Since the drop rate or the ore on OOT island has been reduced, which is a come trick of Verants its rengerated a massizve bottle neck on this quest. The side effect is that peeps have this island well over camped and KSing is common when a Cutthroat spawns. Trackers sit and wait for pops while none trackers run around in circles in the hope of seeing a Cutthroat pop and get to it before the trackers. Bards have the upper hand with speed though.

After talking to a GM its already been put back to the developers to look into the quest again. So it may well be nerfed very soon or the cutthroats moved onto Mire island. This quest is not set to leave the Legends server and was never intended too.

From Book 2 of someone's journals taken off of a lizard inside CT -

Day2
Within the mounds of jumble I found a strange ore. It seems local to this area's geology - and has fascinating properties.

Using my firestaff as a makeshift forge I found that two lumps of this ore could be enchanted with a vile of distilled mana - interesting.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Volume 3
Day 4. The enchanted ore seems to bond well with certain jewels I have with me: Diamonds, blue diamonds, sapphires, black sapphires, and rubies. I shall note these for further investigation on our return to the academy.

So it's pretty obvious that this is some new form of JC skill - the vile of distilled mana is made by a chanter and costs 210+ plat per vial to make.

So recipe would be (in theory) -
2 peices of the ore (unstacked of course) and 1 vial distilled mana in a forge
**********THEN**********
1 piece of enchanted ore + high level gem

Folks are saying that a silver ore has been dropping, so that could, in theory, mean that there's even better stuff than this.

The question is, what is the trivial on making the ore and is it a smithing skill (since it uses a forge) or a JC skill?

What is the trivial of the final product? One would think well past 250 - there was talk of creating a new set of skills for characters which had cleared 250 skill - perhaps these are them? Problem is that this thing is no-drop, which means that 9 out of 10 folks with a chance in heck of making one are going to be enchanters - sigh.

Hello,

My name is Aaearie .. im the one who posted the info on this ring and some of the other items I have made.

These ARE crafted.
These have nothing to do with CT.
These ARE NODROP. ALL stages of this jewlery are NODROP.
You must have JC skill to create this items.

There are three Phantom Jewlery Sets.
WIS Caster
INT Caster
MELE

Each set contains three items.
Ring
Earring
Amulet

Each item has two levels to it.

They are NOT lore.

The Ores you loot are combined in a special container to create the Uncursed Metal. THAT metal is combined in a standard jewlery kit in the following Combination.

Level 1 = Uncursed Metal
Gold
Stone of Choice
Stone of Choice

Level 2 = Previous Item
Platinum
Uncursed Metal
Stone of Choice

In the Ocean of Tears is a male Erudite whom you may purchase information from. He will also assist you in uncursing the metal...for a fee.

Average Cost Per Piece = ~500p

I am working on moving the information from the game, in a recipe format, to the web.

Congrats on finding and making the rings! I have a question tho, did you need to enchant the gold or platinum for the combines?
RE: HERE's how to make the jewlery :)
# Mar 13 2002 at 4:20 AM Rating: Decent
The jewlery metal used is NOT enchanted. As far as trivials go, the first level jewlery is trivial around 150 somewhere and the 2nd level falls between 180 and 250. NOT trival to someone who had 180skill and was trivial to me at 250.

If OOT is different from how it normally is, then yes.. this may be on the other servers. If OOT is the same.. then I dont think so. ALL compoents for these jewlery pices (barring store bought items) are from OOT.

Was not trivial with JC skill of 189 for the second level. So trivial is between 189 and 250. I had no failures though, so I am guessing the trivial is fairly close to 190.

So this is interisting. A no drop crafted ring? This could be VI's new take on using trade skills so players can create better items then what you normally find on mobs.

No drop means that these will not be passed out or sold so that it does not unbalence the game. It gives players a reason to actively work on trade skills.

I know in my guild we just pooled together our plat and got our high level enchanter to 250 skill in no time. Now whenever we need an item we just get the supplies and there it is.

Now if this is the case and there are good no drop items to be crafted then my Iksar monk will become a jewler. lol

And this could be interisting if smithing is done the same way, no drop uber crafted armor and weapons that you can make for yourself.

I like that idea.... It has promise...
RE: Sigh - here's how
# Mar 09 2002 at 1:52 AM Rating: Decent
This argument makes sinse. Most gear made by trades folk are pretty much useless and sold to twinks. The higher end stuf is harder to get materials for and harder yet to craft. Then the resultant piece of gear ye did manage to make normally no one has the plat to pay for it thus, yer market is severly limited, since better can be had for same said amount of plat (I am being genral here, there are a few good items to be made). Now with this idea of 'no drop' craftable items, where are they going with it? I think to allow a more viable reward for hard earned skill points and be able to match some of that upper end loot that ye normally cant get anyway. I hope this idea is applied to all the trade skills people are doing. Of course, the trivials for this is pobably as insane as me getting all the items I dream of my pally having!
RE: Sigh - here's how

Note that the now enchanted ore and gem should be combined in a JC kit.

I would rather spend it on Legends then waste it on smokes, or burger king, or candy or whatever else you think I should be spending it on. AND $40 a month is nothing, i mean Go to the movies 6 times in a month and that's $40. Not to mention gas, and that's only 12 HOURS of entertainment max. Now if you play EQ 6-10 hours a week. That's 24-40 hours a month, which is alot cheaper than a movie. SO before you knock it, just compair it to some of the other crap you people spend money on.

Yer right this is a game, so why the 'idiot' statement? or unless you dont have a grip on RL? or maybe you are the idiot? IMO it is more likley a combination of BOTH leaning towards the latter. People will pay for what ever will entertain them. I bet you pay like 50$ for PS2 game, play it for week, then put it away cause ye got bored of it, then saw a new cool game and bought it for 50$ and so on. Guess what? were you entertained? did you question the purchase? Nope ye didnt did yah? Thats a lot of money to be using for RL stuf right? Do you meet new people in PS2 games? Can you have friendships and cooperation in a PS2 game? bet ye cant (well not yet anyway). So, quit bashing people and enjoy the game.

First of all the only reason why any of us are saying anything in response to everyone else is to defend ourselves. Its our Money we can spend it anyway we want some of us can spend it and still buy tons of other things every month. Thats the point of being in an a capitolist country like America. We can spend our money the way we want to, some of us enjoy the idea of finding new bigger better things with a hefty tag on them. Its part of the way America works. If you don't like legends then don't read about the items don't read the websites about it just go about your business and pay your 10 dollars and be happy.

Verant is not stealing anything from you. You're GM events, GM's and guides are all the same as before.

"You 'few' people paying for this bullcrap which should be available as advertised are idiots."

Interesting take. Ok, so for starters, I'm not a legends user. I play on 7th Hammer only (though I used to play on Povar for a while).

I'm not sure that Verant ever advertised that they would be running one-on-one or few-on-one dynamic quests.

I also don't recall Verant advertising that they would put up web pages for characters.

Nor that they would put up Web pages for guilds.

But of course, they did. They did in connection with starting the Legends service.

Remember, it's just a game. If you enjoy playing on a non-Legends server, continue to do so! If you don't quit. It really is that simple.
Legend Haters?
# Mar 08 2002 at 11:00 AM Rating: Good
Its funny how you can all hate something you've not tried and then out of either envy or just pure spite you spit on the people who went there.

Just because we might spend more money to play the game for the extra customer service and chance to try something out first doesn't mean we're morons. It just means we have the extra money to try it. I still play on the regular servers as well as the legends servers. I started out on Legends as a newbie character and I've not seen them Hand anyone anything. Its been pretty much pure exploration on the part of the older classes that moved.

I'd love to have some fat loot come my way but I work just as hard as I ever did on the regular servers.

My favorite thing about legends is that its not SO over camped you can actually make a level without fighting with other people. And from what I've seen there's not any of the rude mother f'ers on the server crying over bullsh*t.

Because this server is limited to 8000 people there's a better chance you can get something done other than waiting for a camp to open up all the time. I mean really in a hunting setting would you really have to ask someone Hey May I hunt here too? Hell no if you're out there hunting there's never a fight for a tree to sit in and pick off animals(i don't really condone hunting but hey people like to do it). And now the setting is more like that in game you can go out there sit for a few moments and go on a experience point spree without worrying that some large group of people are going to go "we're camping this right now"

Its nice and I feel that the team of people we have working for us is well worth the 40 bucks of MY OWN money im shelling out. I work hard for my money and I can spend it on what I f*cking want to so everyone needs to get off their couch potato ***'s play you're everquest game for 10 bucks or 40 bucks and just enjoy it don't worry about what everyone else is doing.

i would be just fine with legends server if the GM's would still stay on other servers... im on the tribunal, i got this glitch that takes my items away when i go LD, before legends was thought about GM's would always help me get the items back... few months back GM's just stopped appearing on my server... im paying 10 bucks for customer service... i love the game but im not getting what i paid for. Legends is fine; its Verant that is ticking me off.

The legends GMS have nothing to do with the current server GMs as said in numerous posts by Verant it is a seperate team. And as we all know most of the GMs we see online are Guides which means they are Players who are working For free with Verant to help you.

The legends server GMs are being PAID to be there and hold events.

And trust me You are getting what you paid for on the 10 dollars I mean would you want to work for 4 dollars an hour dealing with people all day? Hell no you want atleast 10 to 15 dollars an HOUR to do it. But other than that the GMs on the regular servers do about 50 times more than other games like UO's do. I mean I used to NEVER see a GM except when the GM was PvPing me on Ultima online.

Those GMs are probably not appearing because they're computers may not of been compate with the game or they're on at differen times of the day.

# Mar 08 2002 at 11:57 AM Rating: Decent
the problem is Verant will eventually charge the $40 for all servers there by reverting the old ways back to before pre-legends server status. Then in a few months after this happens you will see an announcement stating that for only $79.95 you can join our "Ultra" Legends server in order to have loads of new features!!!
RE: I dont hate Legends but,
# Mar 08 2002 at 7:05 PM Rating: Decent
No gaming company in their right mind would shut off over a hundred thousand customers to make 40 dollars amonth. Thats a load of crap who ever told you that. Legends is a limited server all the regular servers will stay AS IS as far as price. If they want a second server for the Legends they have already said they'll take a sign up for a new server not transform another one.

I think you're really reading way to much into 40 dollars. Considering their customer base size they'd be cutting their own body parts off to up the price on all the servers so its not economical to do it that way.

Why are all these people bashing legends when obviously they haven't even been there. I was on legends and chose to go back to my normal server. Why? Because most people there are high lvl and it's hard for a 44 Ranger to find a group. My alt the 24 chanter is even harder. But I can tell you stuff isn't handed to you. That is another reason I left because I thought it would be more personal with quests but it isn't. Anyway before you go bashing something try it. And please for God's sake quit posting how you dislike Legends. Alla put up the links so you know they are Legends items before you click so guess what, if you aren't on Legends or have nothing productive to say then don't click it.

In the EverQuest Legend's Character Move Policy page (http://legends.everquest.station.sony.com/showcase/movepolicy.jsp) it says:
A move request from a Legends Server may be declined or delayed for any one of a number of reasons, including:

1. Possession of excessive amounts of coin;
2. Possession of excessive amounts of saleable items;
3. Possession of items that are non-native to the destination server, excepting Legendary items;
4. Abuse of the Legends Service - attempting to transfer items from one server to another, which could also lead to disciplinary action taken on the account;
5. Any other reason which, in our sole discretion, would harm the destination server community.

So what they really mean is that if you have any mid to high end Legend's server items on your character, they will not move you back to your old server.
RE: Hmmmm
# Mar 08 2002 at 11:47 AM Rating: Decent
What I believe Verant is trying to stop is the following:

1. A person who has two characters on different servers, and wants to transfer a lot of coin or gear between them. It's form of twinking, except it's across servers. Reasons 1, 2, and 4 all address that scenario. I'm sure that Verant has a record of what the characters brought with them. I'm guessing that any requests for transfers occurring in the first few weeks or months will be scrutinized in that regard.

2. Movement of items that haven't dropped for a while to the newer servers (Rubicite armor, manastones for instance). They'll probably treat such items as NO DROP for purposes of evaluating requests for server transfers, regardless of what server is involved.

Since #3 on your list specifically excludes Legends-only items, having those won't by itself be cause for denying a move. Since Legends stuff is (I assume) all NO DROP, it wouldn't IMHO "harm the destination server community" UNLESS you're going to one of the PvP servers. Having a NO DROP 30 AC, +15 INT, +10 CHA, +100 mana pair of boots usable only by INT casters (yes, this item DOES exist on Stormhammer) might give you an unfair advantage in PvP (especially on Rallos Zek, where NO DROP is king), since no one else can ever possess them.
