Lore:
This enchanted lantern was once the property of an Elven merchant who became tired of being attacked from the sides by wild animals dogging his journey along roads at night. He eventually commissioned a tinkerer and a sorcerer to come up with this solution - a talking magic lantern that can cast fear-inducing spells to left and to right.

Found it in the Bazaar (Fironia Vie)

Call me lucky, but I found this for 5pp (yes you read that right, 5pp) on Fironia Vie. I swear most of the folks there price their stuff ridiculously low or ridiculously high!

Rare? In deed very rare. I have farmed for this for months. have had it drop only once. Was hoping to get it to drop for my shammy bot. Oh well, got one can't complain to much :)

I always read these irritating follow-up posts on rare loot where guys mention how they got the loot you've been camping for Months for on just the first kill. It's always by people who weren't even trying to get it too, whereas you put all the damn work in without any luck.

Ugh.

Anyways, I killed Bloodmoon Warlock today for his Gem Covered Box, and among his loot he dropped a Wegar's Lantern of Sidewise Fearing too.

Ooooh forget what I said before, that felt great!

Got this off of Bloodmoon Battlemaster in Loping Plains today. Judging by the loot list, I'd imagine it's a zonewide rare off any named. He dropped it in addition to, not instead of, his normal loot.

Thanks for the info, guys. The next time I kill him, I'll get a necro or an SK from my guild to loot the lantern if he drops it.

Phooey. I was hoping for a focus for Chromatic-based nukes and DoTs. Guess I'll have to keep looking.

I don't know how those who write the descriptions on this site get their information, but I can assure you that the focus described is incorrect (or there is something I'm not understanding). The description reads, "Increase spell damage by 25%," and in the following lines, there is nothing that specifies which types of spells are included or excluded, so this focus should effect all spells. I can tell you that it does NOT effect Chromatic-based spells in the least. I have been using this item again and again, and my nukes and DoTs remain the same.

The item's description says it would effect "corruption-based" spells, making this focus completely useless for all classes, since no class has corruption-based nukes or DoTs.

Assiduous Impurity an sk spell is also a corruption based spell.

I'm looking at the focus description of this item. As described on the item itself, it says it increases the damage of corruption-based spells. What does this mean? Which class has corruption-based spells?

Anathema of Life is a magic-based DoT. The corruption DoT we get is the Putrefaction line.
