The Haste variable (constant) only increases your number of attacks, and as a result decreases the delay of your weapon accordingly. Whatever your damage output as a result of the haste varies of course.

Second, Damage Bonus is not added to the Damage variable of the weapon. So if you are level 28 and you have a damage bonus of 1, wielding a 9/18 weapon... the damage bonus does not make it a 10/18 weapon. Damage Bonus applies to the amount of damage you have done as a result of a hit.

Now for a rough comparison of weapons, while considering damage bonus, refer to this chart here lucy.fnord.net/dmgbonus.html and then plug that variable into this formula:

((DMG * 2) + DMG Bonus) / Delay

Bear in mind this doesn't include procs or anything. It's strictly melee damage comparison. Hopefully, this can help you decide whether a weapon is worth wielding or not.
Haste formula

Good post, I'm just going to add one more thing. Haste is pretty misunderstood by a lot of people, while many people believe it's simply (100-haste%)/delay=new delay, this would mean that 100% haste would put you at 0 delay. The actual formula is delay/(100+haste%)/100=new delay.
So lets say it was 50% haste, that would make your new delay 2/3 of it's current delay, and 100% haste, would make it 1/2 of your current delay.
As for haste cap, I'm not exactly sure. I know that for a while it was at 100%, but I think it was raised to around 110, correct me if I'm wrong.

RE: Haste formula

As far as I know the haste cap depends on level; and is 100 percent at 60. Also, I haven't heard of it increasing past 60, so as far as I know the haste cap is still 100 percent at 60.

There are 4 kinds of haste. Spell/song, item, quiver (only affects bows) and v3 (aka overhaste). You can have one of each. The haste cap applies to spell/song and item haste combinations ONLY. Quiver haste allows for more than 100 percent bow haste; and overhaste can go over the haste cap as well. If you've got a 41 percent haste item, and a 70 percent haste spell on you, you're stuck at 100 percent haste (assuming 60+ ). If you then get some form of overhaste (some songs apply to this, as do some AA abilities) for, say, 5 percent, then you're at 105 percent haste. The extra 10 percent from the spell haste is not counted in any way shape or form.

Haste is an increase in damage over time, not a delay decrease. Thus, you can go to 100 percent haste (a 50 percent apparent delay reduction) and beyond. An above poster is quite correct to say that you take the old delay and divide by 1+haste% to find the new apparent delay.

It is a falsehood to think there is a delay minimum. As such, the benefit (22 percent, 41 percent, 36 percent, whatever) is the same regardless of the weapon's base delay. If someone took a Revultant Whip (5 14 1hs ranger only) and paired it with Swiftwind and got a 70 percent haste buff, the effective delay of the rev whip would be 7. If someone took a weighted axe (45 150 2hs) and got it hasted to 100 percent then the effective delay would be 75. Both cases, effective delay cut in half. Thus, there is no advantage to hasting a slower weapon over a faster weapon.

Well, ok, there is an advantage to a slower weapon than a faster weapon; but that depends on ratios. Faster weapons (such as most dual wield weapons) take more riposte damage, and also chew the wielder up faster on a damage shield. Slower weapons have fewer ripostes, and (generally) dela more damage per hit and thus take less overall damage from damage shields. However, the advantages have nothing to do with the haste involved.

Twinkage??
Last I checked there was a damage cap on low level toons. So a fast weapon is alot better than a slow one. At level 20 the max hit is like 30dmg. What good would this do?
RE: I'd like to see lvl 1's.......
# Apr 22 2003 at 9:12 PM Rating: Default
No, at 20 the damage cap goes off. So you could hit for max, however you must keep in mind that the damage bonus doesn't show up until lvl 28. It is the damage bonus that really makes the slower weapons shine.

But aye, this would be a bad weapon to twink with. It would take forever to get skill ups. :p

I've done an extensive bit of testing with my Warrior, Ranger and SK and actually there is a damage cap at every set of 10 levels. I have run a TON of characters now through to their 30's and 5 now 40+ and have noticed some very interesting things. Appears the very first damage cap is 10th as I couldn't hit over 29 dmg with any weapon on any character no matter the buffs before 10 and up to 34 after 10. This includes 2handers and 1hand which topped at 24. At 20th the major cap came off but tops out again at 96 for powerful 2handers. Not many 2 hand weapons hit for that which means VERY few know about it, but I couldn't hit with my Weighted Axe or 2hb over 96 no matter what buffs, etc until I hit 30th. The same applied with my Beastlord, Cleric, and Ranger. After 30 I topped out at 168, and could not crit higher than 216 with my Warrior. Besides using the Dathor there isn't an easily found 2hb that can swing over 150 so I couldn't check the other classes this time. At 40th I could hit up to 247 normal blows and crit to 367(my best so far) and that about tops out max damage for the Weighted Axe anyway. Didn't see enough Cripples to know how they were affected. I've had several friends try the Weighted Axe out to see max damage at levels 51+ but damage bonuses seem to be just adding to what the weapon can best do at 40+ to a degree that is beyond any 'cap'.
I only know one person who uses his Dathor still and is 61 now. He hits Riposte Discipline after getting the nasties attention with an initial hit, and usually gets about 8 solid ripostes in before it disc drops averaging 620hps with no crits and over 780 if he gets even one crit in. Best swing damage was 890, best Crit was 1129, and he's only ever gotten one Cripple off and that at 1042 when he was 60th.
So overall don't bother with adding this hammer to an under 40 character. Not worth the trouble. Find a similar piece like a Weighted axe, Tantor's tusk or similar. Good opening shot which can get and keep their attention for the rest of the fight.

Hi,

Sorry that i have to destroy your dream a little bit :)
(today is my day of haste posts :))

60% Haste does NOT mean that the weapon delay is 60% less (38 in this case).

Haste only say how much more dmg you deal in a given period of time. So if you deal for example 100 dmg over 1 Minute you will deal 160 dmg over 1 Minute with 60% haste.

You can calculate the new delay this way:
1) Add 100 to the Haste Percentage
100 + haste = x
2) Divide the previous result (x) into 100.
100 / x = y
3) Multiply the previous result (y) by the weapon Delay.
y * dly = new delay

for this example with the 60% haste:
1) 100 + 60 = 160
2) 100 / 160 = 0,625
3) 0,625 * 95 = 59,375 = 60

so with 60% haste it would be a 74/60 weapon.

This doesn't sound very good perhaps (cause its so slow) but don't forget the HUGE dmg bonus on such highdly weapons. On the picture there is a bonus of 73 ... so it is with 60% haste a 147/60 weapon :)
You will not hold aggro with it, but you will dish out GREAT dmg :)

Just imagine a critical hit with such a nice little toy :D
(not to mention the little stats of 15 STR/STA and 100 HP ;))

Perhaps it isn't so usefull in normal exp groups, cause the mobs will be dead before you swung your weapon the third time, but I think it's a very nice weapon if you are not the Maintank in big fights (Epics, Dragons, Gods, Bossmobs ....).

Your haste numbers are correct, as far as I can tell. However, what you say is misleading. Damage isn't directly affected by haste. Speed is. You miss twice as much with a haste of 100, too. The point is that you attack twice as fast.

Of course, since there's a haste cap, you'll never see a haste of 100.
RE: My 2 copper
# Sep 25 2002 at 12:43 PM Rating: Decent
You got the haste right, but the damage bonus wrong, my friend.

Damage bonus is not added to the base damage of the weapon, it's added to the calculated damage.
RE: My 2 copper
# Nov 05 2002 at 2:25 PM Rating: Default
This must be wrong. If it's not everything I know about dmg bonus goes out the window, and I want to sell my pre-nerf warrior because that ain't the way *his* damage bonus works :)

Seriously, when I wield Lamentation at level 41, I do less overall damage than I do with Wurmslayer (though only marginally). When I wield Wurmslayer at 42, I do less overall damage than I do with Lammy.

Why is this? Because (dmg+bonus)/delay is higher for wurmy at 41, but it's higher for lammy at 42. Please, feel free to check this with any two weapons that flip/flop like this just before and after you level.

If bonus was figured on top of the net damage, you could never hit for less than you damage bonus, and I assure you that I do that all the time :)
RE: My 2 copper
# Nov 11 2002 at 8:36 PM Rating: Decent
You can't hit for below your damage bonus, unless the mob's ac soaks it up, actually.

My main monk which i will not name has all arch lvl 1 but fear aa's. has lvl 1 return kick,2X reposite, and ambdexterity. i wait for mob or mobs to flurry or enrage when they are like 1 bubble health left... And all i See is it go from 20 percent health to 1 percent health in 9 sec When i pop Whirl Wind...Average hits are 200'sh to 600's and best crits were 905 My other friend with his T-Staff Bruselli of Karana had a hard time taunting mob off of me ...My next goal is to get lvl 2 in all arch skills and lvl 2 @x reposite... BTW kiddies dont try this with out a good chanter.. my natural haste is only 76% and if your haste is even lower you'd call me a liar.
But as far as i'm concerned its nice to hear rouges andwarriors sayu...holy moley You using the kitchen sink to hit those mob's...
Pluses can do 1 k damge in 3 hits...
Neg's Dam thing put 's me with light out fit at 1 stone over mt target weight...

And no i have not updated this item to magleo data base cuse i would get tell from warriors all over if they could touch my stick... and it gets very anoying...

Ok here's a update on this Weapon my monk is now 65th with 305 str has aa's ambdex, phys enh, lightning reflex 4, planar power 5, Punishing blade 2, Ferocity 1, inate Def 3 and many more aa's. ***Fact*** you do Swing SLOW But... hehe i know ave 400 per hit it can go from 200 to 600 damge and up to 995 in crits so far AND my Best set was 435,565-crit,925-crit,535 and hehe 3 special attcks compliments of master wu's tQ.. And that's not using a disc.. ***FACT*** And cuse you swing slow mob can't repoiste you and kill you. small note Due to well placed aa skills this weapon has what i call a DPM(damge per minute) of 10k. And yeas as soon as i max out combat fury aa's All im gona hear is Waaa from the warriors rangers and rouges. Why is monk criting like that hehe.. And for you monk with your Staff of flowing water.. hehe I like the big boom theory Vs your wet noodles...

****UPDATE****

I currently have all Arch, Class, planer power 5 and ALL Attck n Deffensive AA. Have also added in slot 4 of item the 150 cold dd aug. per mob in 1 fight i get 2 to 3 crit blast of 300 and 2 to 4 reg hit's from 200 to 533. I stand corrected also for maximum non disc crit it is only 853. I use this weapon when i want agro mostly cuse of aa skills. My maximum set as in hits in 1 tick was crit 853, 424 crush, 533 crush,275 flying kick,103 strike,100 kick, and 1 crit prock 300. THat was all in 1 Set mob was crippled mele debuffed up the wazo and i was hitting it from behind and mob was enraged. But after that set i missed 3x and only did 400 damge. Because mob stoped Enrage..but for me since i maxed out aa the attck aa's i avg 2 to 4 crit procks per fight and i have been told by the group taunters.."Dude WTh you doing??" and after i link my weapon all i get is the comment CRAP that think is SLOW how the hell you geting agro. i basicly reply mob pissed i smacekd it for 2100 damge in 1 tick...

Ps. MAX reg hit for me using inner flame is only 978 so far.. :twocents

This item sucks as far as ratio goes.. its good if you are the main assist because of the massive riposte damage, if you are a warrior who finds a monk who thinks he's hot sh*t just put this on duel him and turn on your level 56 riposte discipline and see what he says when he is dead in 5 ripostes, this is truly an uber weapon if you are the M/A
(lvl 60 warrior with plenty of str can easily crit for 700 w/ it sometimes alot more)
and the price varies from server to server. have seen it for 50k and have seen it for 165k
#REDACTED, Posted: Jun 10 2002 at 6:43 AM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) I doubt it's usable in raids though. Even though you might get some awesome hits off with it, Riposte is a defensive skill, and I'm pretty sure the dmg from ripostes doesn't generate any taunt (like Damage shields) Doesn't take away that it's great for PvP and soloing though, and maybe usable in exp groups.
RE: this is good only for m/a or soloing
# Jul 03 2002 at 3:52 PM Rating: Decent
Riposte may be a defensive skill, but the riposte disc isn't used that way--dmg from the riposte disc does count to aggro and with a high dmg weapon like this, if you can land the hits, you can do an obscene amount of dmg in a period of time where you are invulnerable to melee dmg. Think about the implications of the riposte disc before you go bashing it--its a tremendously useful and underutilized (by the unknowing) skill that is used OFFENSIVELY.
RE: this is good only for m/a or soloing
# Aug 05 2002 at 9:03 PM Rating: Default
I never bashed riposte. In fact I love it. There is a reason why they put it on a 60 min timer. I prefer using it while soloing though, cause in groups they might take away the aggro and then the disc is (partially) wasted. You just repeated everything I said, except added that the riposte disc Does add taunt, then you say I know nothing about it? Bah.

This is the warlords semi rare drop his commong is not all that easy to remeber .... BUT I got this the other day with my 57 pally ... here is some reasearch on it.
with a 2hb skill level of 212
silvery belt of contention and valor of marr for haste items
with no shammie buffs
low hit 56 - (shameful)
high hit 402 - ( umm wow )

with shammie buffs 255 str
low hit 64 - (BAH )
high hit 422 - ( nice )

this is not counting double hits or disc vs undead

highest double hit total- dmg 806
highest crit vs undead mob - crippling blow 766
(monk called me a bastage for that one )
It is a bit slow but the dmg over time is insane.
For a non Main assist situation this thing is goddly for the low aggro vs a sword of blessings 19 dmg 25 dly or "A weapon of luclin" (my other 2hs) 39 dmg 45 dly 3 to all stats 3 to all saves.

I am going to hand this to a lv 60 monk to use on next guild raid in Kael or Hate to see what he can destroy with it. should be interesting

Thank you, Garyen. I saw it enter Magelo's database today. Here is its URL: http://www.magelo.com/eq_item_info.html?num=8137

Note, however, that the item submitted here at Allakhazam's is now misspelled. I take it Verant changed its name at some point -- assuming your posted image is correct. This means people's searches here for "Dathor" and at Magelo for "Drathor" are going to turn up empty.

I have submitted a correction to Allakhazam. I hope this is dealt with in a timely manner. Every time someone searches Magelo for an item and their search turns up empty, we have to deal with their "This item is missing..." post. It's an annoyance I try to stay ahead of.

I'll check the name in-game tomorrow, but I really hate logging in nowadays. /sigh
