Just testing my signature. Been laughing while reading, and this is a funny item! A 15 ratio, and it's only 8 gold! Does this stein appear to be golden in hand? Would get a few "wows" out of newbies to see someone walking around with a golden stein, especially if it glowed or something =P. Crappy items like this should have interesting graphics, to encourage more colors in EQ. I don't know about any "final" quest in PoT, but if there is one i would think you would have to go kill Veeshan or get the Nameless drunk- and what better to do it with than a Fools Gold Stein!! =P.

I'm buying the stein because my guild requires I have one for parties - er, I mean important meetings. Put the weapons away, we're all friends here! I choose the Fools Gold Stein partly because it shows a bit of hometown pride, and partly because I'm lazy and a cheapskate. /snicker

You're right though, unless you want one for roleplaying, there's no use for it.

i went to the fool's gold tavern to purchase one, and deep pockets told me to leave. do i have to raise my faction with him to purcahse one?

You can buy one at the Fools Gold tavern in Rivervale. I'm Ikasr and still KoS in Rivervale, so I had a friend invis me and follow me in there, turned on sneak and then bought one. Got my invis again (then sneak off) and ran back out. There is a guy near the merchant that sells these called a bouncer, but he did not attack me when my invis came off, probably because I was sneaking still. Good luck.

I would like to know where to get this. Why, you ask? If you can buy it in stores, it will be a good item for a lowbie monk to practice his 1HB in off hand. Monks generally do not have a lot of money to buy the higher level stuff because they can not hold loads of eq to sell, or loads of copper to take to bank to convert to plat.

This is sold in the Fool's Gold in Rivervale. That's where I bought mine after giving Joogl Honeybugger almost 500 bandages to make myself non-KOS here (although I still have to avoid the cleric and druid guilds). Crap as a weapon, but a nifty souvineer of Rivervale to show off to the iksar.

If you're only dubious to the merchants, just walk behind them and click on "sneak" and they'll sell to you. This sells for about 8 gold.

If you're looking for a cheap starter weapon, buy a staff or a club instead. Much better ratio, is an actual functional weapon for low level monks, and sells for about 5pp. Sold in any monk or cleric guild from the merchants there.
