Can do this solo with invis potions.

Buy as many stacks of Cloudy potions as you intend to do turn ins to get to indifferent faction. Initiate the trade, get your 4 wines in - click potion on belt then click give (making you indifferent at trade time). Alternatively you can have someone cast invis on you before clicking give. Did this from dubious about 15-20times and got to indifferent. Once at natural indifferent factions. Give wine until all 3 faction give the message that you can't raise the faction further (meaning your Max Ally).

You get no extra faction if you put 80 Wine in the trade window. Giving him 4 wine UNSTACKED will yield the same Faction. Whoever gave Lokar 80 at a time is a fool

And although it will take a lot more wine, I will max out my faction with the Inner and Outer Dreadguard as well. You can ALWAYS raise your faction more unless you get the message, "Your faction with _____ could not possible get any better".
You're joking, right?
# Nov 27 2002 at 2:27 AM Rating: Decent
You're all kidding right? I am a High Elf Cleric, worshipper of Tunare, and via this quest (using invisibility - had an enchanter cast it on me each time I handed in) I got my Dark Bargainers faction to Indifferent, then by myself I MAXED it to Ally where it will say it cannot possibly get any better. I'm still working on Inner and Outer Dreadguard but they are now DUBIOUS to me. I'm a High Elf of Tunare! So you can DEFINITELY use the wine quest to raise your faction in Neriak, without a doubt.

Verant nerfed this method of raising faction. Bad enough they nerfed turning stuff in as invisible. Now, even after prepping the trade per normal and having someone cast invis on you, your original faction state is still taken. Hence, no method of raising faction. If someone has developed another method that still works, I would love to hear it. Enchanter of the 47th season.

I had someone cast camo on me until I could turn them in my self. It was pretty easy.

THIS IS HOW YOU GET FACTION IN NERIAK IF YOU ARE A WOOD ELF
# Jun 21 2001 at 4:56 PM Rating: Default
First you need to be at least lvl 14 druid to do this. this is because Lokar scowls and is ready to attack but since he is lvl 10 or 11 i dont think he will attack, I was lvl 24 when i did this... Buy all the wine you can carry i bought 8 boxes with 8 slots in each and filled up 2 with food and water and the rest with 20 packs of wine. Then i walked into neriak using superior camo its possible to cast indors. I went to 3d gate and into lokars office in the library... he scowled at me when i dropped the camo... but i could hand him 4 stacks of 20packs of wine, i then had my mule throw invis on me i created a chanter they get invis at 4 and powerleveled him in nektulos at skel monolite had him take on 4 skels at a time just barbed him and healed, went to 4 in no time... Just have a friend or mule cast the invis on you after you have put 4 stacks in the trade window but BEFORE you press the trade button, then you get faction, off cource invis drops but who cares, just do it over and over until lokar cons indif to u then you can kill the mule or even better have him buy more wine while you turn the ones you have in, minimizes the risc of going visable in front off the guards... Well after about 100 stacks of wine i was indiff to Lokar. Then I went to warmly finally, and im telling you he will never con higher than warmly thats a present from verant... anyways after I was warmly with lokar i turned in 500 stacks more until i finally became dubios to the guards. There are more guard factions in neriak like indigo brotherhood i think they will still scowl at you, but im now dubious to the entrance guards and all guards in commons and all except one in foreign quarters but he is like lvl 10 so even if he scowls at me he wont attack, and in commons all merchants are warmly and the banker is warmly and the guard in the bank is dubious, but thats fine, i think maybe 500 stacks more will get the guards to con warmly actually the guards outside neriak are indiff to me and guards inside are dubious. well any idiot can figure out that you need like 800pp to hand in all that wine, so ask yourself if its worth it, but it is kinda fun to be the GOD of neriak sowing newbies who never seen sow before... Also the wine quest doesnt ruin faction with others like killing halflings does, and you have to kill 800*20 halflings to get the same faction soo dont even go there you will ruin 4 factions for ever since the faction lost is about 17 times more than you gain with inner and outer guards.

Hmm, long post and not exactly good advice for someone who is just starting and only has one computer. By the time someone is running two computers and power-leveling characters on thier second account, this stuff is all old hat.

Forgive me I'm tired, But why in the hell have noobies in Neriak never seen sow before ? just curious. There are plenty of dark race shamans that cast SoW on noobies all the time.

Anyway, Wine quest is good way to fix faction with guards in neriak, if you are a different race trying to get access to neriak, or if you are a Darkelf who has done something bad : ) and are repairing your faction. Handing in Lightstones to the darkelf merchant in S Ro is also a very good route and isnt nearly as dangerous as skulking throuh neriak praying invis doesnt drop.

No idea if this is intentional, but it of course means that you can now raise a lot of factions you could not raise.

I read a post from someone mentioning this, then went and tried it myself. You can indeed click on the hide key OR hit the number of it hotkeyed, AFTER you place the quest items to the npc (before giving) Unlike pre-newUI, it does not say, "you can't do that now." I don't know if its a bug/exploit or it was a bug that you could not before. Either way, I'd plead ignorance and raise some factions if you feel like it before it possibly changes.

The only advantage is it skips the bother of needing someone else to invis you during each turn in.
here is your problem

the trick to the faction problem with Ratraz is never let your faction go that low you have to do the wine quest EACH TIME you kill him. Keep your faction above amiable because you can go from amiable to doubious then you cant do the quest anymore.

Go to merchants in WC and get some lightstones they usually have some, if cant find any get at least 25 from erud xing - go to sro at gypsies and stand in front of Smith Tv'Ysa Hand 4 lightstones to her but dont press give, have groupmember cast invis on you and then press give. repeat until aimable. This is much like previous post with red whine but ALOT faster. I do not have a solution for people who are KoS to Sro gypsies. perhaps if you were invis and timed it just right...

i attempted the red wine quest tonight, hoping to expand my banking abilities from one of the 13 towns to two...it was to no avail. A friend invised me through neriak, when i got to the scribe, without invisibility, he was apprehensive and the librarians were indifferent (they might not have faction in order for other races to purchase spells, not sure) but the guy you hand the wine into was apprehensive, so i conned a guard, he was still KOS, when i handed in the wine it said something like "your not a friend of the Dark bargainers" my friend in the group (a DE) handed some in and i got xp but no faction. Unless there is some monster or npc i can kill to raise Dark bargainer faction, i don't think we iksar monks can do the quest. This is a real dissapointment....There is no bigger pain in the *** than not being able to go over 14 stones without taking a huge ac hit, and only being able to bank on one of the 3 continents.......Anyways, good luck to all you out there, if you can figure out this problem that'd be great, post it.

Snagafen of the 21st circle

PS. For what it's worth, I have killed numerous halflings in nektulos and destroyed wood elf rangers in TD for an entire lvl raising indigo brotherhood faction (warriors guild in neriak) Plus i've never killed any DE's.

Why didn't you use sneak? A successful sneak will turn an NPC that doesn't see through it indifferent to you when you are behind it. You can then do shopping or turn-ins with indifferent faction. I've fixed my Iksar Monk's faction all over the place, the ability to sneak helps a lot. I can shop in any town where I'm not KOS, since I never have to actually have worse than indifferent faction with the NPC that I'm trying to interact with.
WOW!!! It did work!!!

Like the rest of you, I have killed Ratraz a few too many times. He is a tremenous faction hit as I found out by going from amiable direclty to aprehensive in one kill. =(

I petitioned the gm's about it but nothing ever happened with it. Get it together Verant!

I did the red wine quest again per some earlier posts and I had a friend cast Invis on me right before I clicked give. Presto, an indifferent Lokar. =) I really had my doubts about this one but I got so desperate I would have tried anything. It worked like a charm.

Interesting how a bug is canceled out by another bug. This bug makes it possible, but downright inconvenient. Whats worse is that the gm's know about both of them but wont do anything to fix it.

What are they thinking? Who would ever expect that killing someone who once considered you a friend would make him leery of you in the future.

Hehe, and I'm an enchanter. What's more, I'm Gnomish. Now the Dread Guard Inner and Outer are up to indifferent, and Merchants all see me warmly. :) Best 280 bottles of wine I ever spent. :)

Now it only raises my DarkBarginers Faction, though... Damn Max Faction Bug! Seems to work totally backward.
IT WORKED FOR ME

Kailet isa right the invis works. just have someone invis you in the trade screen then hit trade and poof you get a full faction hit. it only took me 6 to 8 red wines untill lokar would take them from me himself. but be careful I went through about 11 stacks of wine and i still trip in third gate. The merchants love me though =)
How to get bad faction?
# Sep 25 2000 at 12:33 AM Rating: Default
How do you get bad faction with dark bargainers without losing faction with dreadguardinner? I killed 2 merchants inside the Rogue guild and only lost Rogue faction. I need to know this to work around the max faction bug Verant wont fix.
This MIGHT work, dunno tho

Hi all,

I'm a level 40 Enchanter on Povar server. I had a faction problem with bards and was trying to figure out a way to fix it. Questing is the best way to raise factions, as opposed to killing, like in Mistmoore to raise bard faction. Unfortunately, all quests to raise this faction involved the bards, so I couldn't do it. However, I tried to charm one of them and was able to do the "going postal" quest which after about 20 times got me from DEEP KOS to dubious. That was after spending about 2 days in MM with no success. So, if you have a high level enchanter friend and high level druid friend, here's what I propose.

First of all, the dark elf vendors in South Ro are level 40. You will need lightstones and greater lightstones for this. Have your druid friend cast Harmony on all 3 vendors EXCEPT the vendor named Smith Tv'ysa. Then have your enchanter friend Charm Smith Tv'ysa. Then you may step in and make your trades. Hopefully, this will raise your faction enough with Dark Bargainers that you can do the Red Wine quest. I went from "threatingly" to "apprehensive" after 9 lightstones. You'll get books for evil research but can sell back.

The red wine quest is the "easier" way of doing this instead of trying to get the lightstones to drop from wisps. I would get a friend who is not KOS to Dark Elves (at least level 20 or so) to go attack Lokar To'Biath in Neriak 3rd Gate and pull him to the zone and let your enchanter friend once again mezmerize him. (he's only lvl 10 or so) Then give him potions repeatedly.

Mainly, I just wanted to let everyone know that anything under the "charm" effect of an enchanter will allow you to trade with the charmed person. Hope this helps and opens up a new way of thinking when trying to allow trades. Good luck all!

I was told by many GM's and Guides that there is no way to get your fation back with them if it has gone to far.My friend is a GM he said they wont change anything in the game unless more then 30,000+ people are complaining about it :( . So the only thing i can say is try to get everyone to email Verant about this problum and post it on boards and sites other wise every necro will never be able to say ---- There is no place like home--- :)
im forked too!

I also had a problem with that blasted troll. I had a mage friend of mine cast invis on me. I started the proceedure to give the wine to the fellow in the library, but just before I clicked on the "Give" button, I had my friend invis me once more. It worked like a charm. Hope that this helps y'all! =)

Give me a break people, you ask Verant to fix this faction hit like it's a bug or something. Don't you think the dark elfs would have killed Ratraz themselves if they didn't like him?

Impossible!
# Aug 31 2000 at 1:50 AM Rating: Default
Yes, I also killed our good friend Ratraz... and I'm also screwed... There is no way to raise faction again... not with the lightstones in South Ro, not with the wine in Neriak's library (invisible or not...) This simply can't be... My Dark Elf Necro can't buy a thing outside Neriak or South Ro! And now the Dark Bargainers refuse to sell stuff to? THIS IS A GAME STOPPER ! I'm level 20 now for Gods sake ! I won't start all over ! Fix this **** Verant !

It used to be easy to find out, on Alla'Khazam's old faction tables. Unfortunately its been replaced by this system, which is total crap in comparison. :(
