High Elf Enchanter

Anyone know whether killing halflings will raise faction enuff with the guards and merchants in library that I can buy my spells and do my no drop tashania quest? Illusion does not work b/c of my religion, I haven't tried the aliance line of spells yet. Will try next time I'm near that zone but I'd like a little insurance hehe. Help with this would really be appreciated.

Well I'm a darkelf on BB server and everything i've read about the thrid gate is only dark elves can venture there, and as an enchanter you can look like a dark elf but since you worship a good god you are kos there anyway, no matter what the faction. sorry about your luck but there are plenty of newbies and other chars like myself that don't mind running errands for a price.

First of all, making an Enchanter that isn't an Agnostic is a bad idea. Giving them a religion sort of defeats the purpose of Illusions.

As for the Neriak Third Gate area you CAN venture into the 3rd Gate area if you're not a Dark Elf. You just have to stay clear of the Necro\SK area and avoid getting seen by the ghouls outside of it. (Some people have told me that these ghouls CAN see you even if you're using Invisibility to Undead, but I haven't tried it, and don't plan to; getting killed because of them once was more than enough)

I had to use my Human Necromancer (Who worships Innoruuk) to buy some of the Magician summoning spells for my High Elf Magician (I moved my Mage from Gfay to Freeport around level 4 or 5) from the library there, and I saw a Vah Shir Beastlord in the zone. He walked right by some of the guards without them aggroing on him. I guess he must've killed a ton of Halflings and done the Red Wine quest a lot....

The Ghouls outside the Necro\SK guild WILL aggro on anyone who isn't a DE, even if you serve Innoruuk. I didn't know that and my Necro ended up dead because of it (I ran, but the guards decided I was the enemy, since the ghouls were chasing me and killed me; after I recovered my corpse, I got revenge by killing one of the guards on the bridge in Nek)

I refuse to have my Necro set foot in Neriak again for a long time, though; No need to, really, since my Magician buys his own summoning spells from the library in Erudin now. (And because of killing that one guard, all the Neriak guards (including the ones in Nektulos) con `threatening' to my Necro. Gonna have to go kill some Halflings, I guess.....

There is no "kos...no matter what the faction." KOS IS the faction. If you raise your faction above threatingly, you are not KOS anymore.
Faction with neriak

I was jus wondering if doing the red wine quest increases the faction with the outside nektoulos guards?..I also was wondering about how many halflingsyoumust kill in order to raise your fation up enough to be indeferently to the outside nektoulos guards?
Halfling Problem

Every halfling I've killed does not raise with the Dark Elves, but instead with the Unkempt Druids. Am I killing the wrong Nektulos halflings?

Yeah that's the wrong halfling camp. Go south from there across the river. There's 2 halfling camps in the SW corner of the zone. Those are the one's that raise your faction..and it'll say "Dread Guards Outer" for the DE faction. As far as how many of these **** you have to kill? God I wish I knew..very boring stuff.

Yes, I can tell you one way, though it involves the use of the "sneak" ability. Here's how I did it.

I'm a Halfling Druid. I used my racial sneak ability to make the dark elf smithing merchant in South Ro indifferent to me so I could turn in Lightstones to her for faction boosts with the Dark Bargainers, Dreadguard Outer, and Dreadguard Inner. Once I got the Dark bargainers faction up to indifferent, I could camo my way into the library in Neriak's Third Gate zone, and do the Red wine quest there.

Lightstones quest (Evil Research):

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=303

Bottles of Red Wine:

https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/quest.html?quest=159

Some tips about the quests --

The lightstones quest allows you to turn in either lightstones or greater lightstones.

Turning in a lightstone gives you faction and a book that fits inside one of your bags. Just turn them in 4 at a time and the books will fill up your bags as you turn them in. You can sell them back to any merchant (including her), though you'll get less for them than you would have paid for a lightstone off a vendor. It's not a huge loss, but it would add up if you did the quest enough.

Turning in a greater lightstone gives you faction (and I think it may be more than you get for a lightstone) and a book that is actually a spell research combine container that requires a general inventory slot. You can sell the book back to a merchant and if you have your charisma gear on (get it over about 109 if possible) you can actually just about break even, which is good given what the merchants charge for the greater lightstones. (They cost about 9 plat if you have good charisma gear.)

:)

The one downside of doing the quest with greater lightstones is that you can only turn in as many at a time as you have open general inventory slots. So for me it was turn one in, sell the book back to her, turn one in, sell the book back to her ...

It takes a while longer that way.

:)

On the other hand I only turned in a hundred or so lightstones and greater lightstones before I noticed that my faction had climbed all the way up to amiable!

:)

After that I created a dark elf rogue character on my second account to do the runs to and from the bar in Neriak for the stacks and stacks of read wine and used Improved Superior Camo to make my way all the way into the library in the deepest zone in Neriak.

If you've never played a dark elf or other character who was able to wander around in all parts of Neriak, I strongly suggest that you create one just to explore the place. Also, get yourself a good set of maps of the town. I like the ones found on EQ Atlas, but there are others out there, too.

:)

Once inside the library there is a separate little room off to the left where the quest NPC is found. He's in there alone, and all the other NPCs in the main part of the library seem to be on the Dark Bargainers faction, too, so if you are indifferent or better to the dark elf merchants in South Ro, you should be safe there.

:)

At that point I handed my other character 500 plat and 3 10-slot bags and sent her off to the bar around the corner to fill them with stacks of bottles of red wine.

After she brought them back I started to turn them in, 4 at a time. I was very surprised to discover that before I'd even finished the first bag I was maxxed out at "ally" with the Dark Bargainers!

:)

Given some indiscretions in my youth it took about 3060 bottles to max out the Dreadguard Inner faction down in the lower portion of the "dubious" range. The Dreadguard Outer faction topped out at indifferent after about 3800 bottles.

My total cost for all the lightstones, greater lightstones and wine was about 300 pp and it took me a few hours to do the entire process.

Frankly, I was expecting it to be a lot more work than that.

:)

I am trying to raise my faction with Dread Outer so far the only thing that I have found is killing the halflings in Nek forest. Being half elf and lvl 30+ my need for hafling faction is little as my days where hunting in Runney eye is worth it are over and thats about the only reason I can see for having halfling faction. DE faction is important to me because I will soon be hunting in Sol B and being bound in Neriak foriegn is alot closer then FP

Try Lokar in Neriak 3rd Gate. Give him red wine to raise all major Neriak factions. You find him in the library.

Killing the Misty Thicket guards at the wall will raise faction with the Dread Guard outer. Those MT guards are level 25 - 39.

I just noticed "DreadGuardOuter" faction when I turned in Runnyeye Warbeads to Sherrif Roglio in Rivervale. I don't remember seeing this faction before.
