I was killing mobs in OT by the book and a guild of 70s walked in and started killing mobs. They let me loot everything which was cool ade almost 1k. Then they pulled one of the GMs and after 45mins they killed him frist time I ever seen anyone kill a GM in the game. No not a Gamemaster or guide this was a guild master. I wish I took a screen shot so i could show everyone. Only thing to loot was a raw hide cloak lol what jip.

My 58 sk gnome did some faction raising here for his Worker Sledgemallet quest.

Sk started off as dubious. Took 24 warbraids to get to apprehensive, another 44 to reach indiff and yet another 44 to get to amiable.

As mentioned in other posts, sarnak warbraids drop from sarnak beserkers. One braid drops from every kill, along with an occasional word or rune or semi-precious stone. My sk seemed to have the most hunting luck in The Overthere, south and southwest of the central chasm, with most being in the extreme southwest corner and around the nearby muddy pond.

For lower level toons hunting in that area, beware of the sarnak messenger (he is a higher level) and the occassional patrol of guards from the evil colony (including General V.). If you are kos to VS, the guards will chase you down. They hit hard and run with sow.

Good luck,
Shadome.

Apparently, they nerfed Advisor in MM. He doesnt give VS faction anymore. Any ideas on how one can get positive faction hits for VS besides dragons in VP and Kunark? Isnt there any cheesy ass green mobs that give VS faction? How are lowbies supposed to fix faction after they hit Keasora or HS or KC? Someone said that fairies in FV gave VS faction but they were wrong.

I have bought spells from evil vendors in OT before.. I am a Dark Elf Necromancer, but now they wont sell to me anymore, after my trip to KC. Should i just kille a bunch of sarnaks in OT to get better faction with Evil vendors or what?

If your only reason for being in the outpost is to buy from the evil vendors, and they won't sell to you, just make a new dark elf character to do the shopping for you. Since the PoK book is right next to the outpost, you don't have to worry about your level 1 character getting killed by a wandering rhino. This is how I do my shopping there and it's completely safe. If you don't have PoP, then you're in for a long walk, but it's definitely better than building faction and quitting Karnor's Castle.

I worked my faction in OT to get the hammer, the next day I went to HS and killed in there for about an hour. Found out the first time i used hammer---severely KOS. What mobs ( besides dragons and named) can I kill to raise faction again. I can't hand in braids so thats definately not an option. I am looking to kill any mob that is available to solo to a level 61 SK.
RE: VS faction Help
# Apr 21 2003 at 9:18 AM Rating: Decent
See the list above. Kurnark dragons are the only way. Not really an option for solo faction work, but you can tag along a gore raid and cast a spell on gore or buff one of the raiders to get faction.

On the other hand why bother? If you just use your gate hammer you can do it kos, too. Only 1 mob at the entry point and that is green to my lvl 52 bard who uses the hammer quite frequently.

Just swim around the outpost towards the PoK book or whereever you want to go.

I am a gnome necro and i have done the quest and the faction does not say that it increased. Is it realy increasing? Have they nerfed it? Usualy when you get a faction increase it tells you right out that it increased. Instead i get the shield and it says he will tell the general or something like that.

Any ideas?

Well I've scoured the posts, and still haven't found a satisfactory answer... would I, an agnostic halfling rogue be KoS at the outpost? I know very well that rogues are generally frowned upon in most cities, so I was wondering if that meant we were considered "pseudo-evil" or something... any info would be greatly appreciated :)

The best/safest way to check your faction at the Outpost in The Overthere is to take the raft from Oasis to the Ogre Island in Timorous Deep. Get in sight of the Ogres and /con them. If you are KOS to them, you will be KOS at the outpost.

Faction info
# Jul 14 2002 at 12:03 PM Rating: Excellent
If you're amiable or below at the outpost in dark elf form, you'll be KOS in halfling form.
If you're kindly, warmly, or ally at the outpost in dark elf form, you'll be dubious or better in halfling form.
This works both ways: halflings in dark elf illusion or dark elves in halfling illusion.
(actually it's only a 950 point penalty for halfling, not the full 1000, but that's close enough)

Humans, Gnomes, Ogres, Trolls, and Erudites have the same good faction at the outpost as Dark Elves.
Other races (including iksars, skeletons, and werewolves) have the same bad faction at the outpost as Halflings.

Some examples of faction hits, for raising faction in both Overthere in Chardok:
Killing Sarnak Berserker: -2 to Dizok
Killing goblin in Droga/Nurga: +1 to Dizok
Killing Kunark dragon: roughly +20 to Venril Sathir
Turning in four sarnak war braids: +8 to Venril Sathir
Turning in green goblin skin in Chardok: +3 to Dizok
Turning in two Mt. Death Mineral Salts in Chardok: +3 to Dizok

Killing sarnaks in Chardok: probably lowers Dizok about -10
Killing various evil things in Kunark: lowers Venril Sathir

-----

Faction is the sum of five factors: Race, Class, Religion, History, and Magic. Every NPC considers those five things in deciding whether he likes you. Each is a number, you add all five together and get:

less than -801 -- scowls ready to attack
-800 to -501 -- glares threateningly
-500 to -101 -- dubious
-100 to -1 -- apprehensive
0 to 99 -- indifferent
100 to 499 -- amiable
500 to 749 -- kindly
750 to 1099 -- warmly
1100 or more -- ally

History is what's affected when you kill something or do a quest. I've seen quests with +1000 and kills with -1000 (or more) but newbie delivery quests are usually +1 and -1. The good quests usually give +10 to one faction and -1 to others, good kills usually give -10 to one faction and +1 to the others.

Magic is what's affected when a bard or enchanter casts a faction spell. It's either 0, +100, +200, or +300 for enchanters, it's probably variable for bards. Faction spells never stack, you can't even use them for two seperate factions at the same time.

It's possible that some NPCs have a sixth factor, a + or - because that particular NPC is just grumpy or friendly to everyone, but that is rare at best.

It all depends on your religion that'll make you kos in the outpost in the ot. For example. True that some humans will be welcome in the outpost. Some aganostic humans, and those warrior humans who follow rallos zek, and the human sk's who follow the innorrukk, they won't be kosed. Now a human paladin or cleric will be kosed in the outpost. Also all iksars I'd be gussing are kosed in the outpost. However if your allready an evil race, Darkelf, troll, oger, you won't have to worry about being kosed no matter what your religion is. Not sure about the oger shammys though. Of course you'll be kosed if your evil and you've killed ogers in TD. I made a mistake and killed a few ogers, not enough to be kosed though. Just Dubiosly. Handed in a lot of war braids to raise faction to apphre. Hope this helps. Btw, the mercheys won't sell to ya if your con dubiosly. As for the new vah shiar race, I'm not sure if they'er kosed or not.

They both play a part in it. As a Vah Shir Beastlord I am KOS in the outpost. I'm only level 32 and haven't hunted anywhere in Kunark besides Lake of Ill Omen and Frontier Mountain, so it wasn't anything I killed.

I though Vah Shir were a newtral race and all other races are welcome in Shar Val? As far as I know Vah Shir are Newtral and Agnostic, but are still KOS in the outpost. I though the only places we couldn't go would be Erudin and Paineel, but I was wrong. I wish someone would come up with a PC race faction table showing not only if someone likes/hates us and how much so. Am I so far in the red with the outpost that I don't have a prayer of not being KOS in there? Factions in EQ are just plain screwed up. They are more for balance then follow an actual history or guideline, which would explain why a DE necro can walk in to Shar Vhal but I can't go in to Neriak.

The reason for the different cons is that some of the Drolvargs in Karnor's are on Venril Sathir faction, while others are on no faction. As an example, the larger Drolvarg Sentries are on VS faction while the little ones will con scowling to everyone, despite your standing with VS. Hope this helps.

Just to let the poeple who messed up ther faction with Venril Sathir (The Over There)... There could be some creatures you killed along the way to ruin your faction..for me it was An OGRE Raider. Hehe the funny thing about it is they are there right where you catch the boat to The Over There.

Lets get down to business..from my experience I fouond out the only way to increase you faction in the over is the warbraids of course..but you can;t turn them in or your dead..sop the answer is you have to get a drak race mask which means you will need a hi lvl grp or hope you have a lot of EQ buddies..or hopefully you are in a guild...but if you happen to get the dark race mask that will allow you to freely go in The Over There and turn in your warbraids...thus raising faction in hope one day you be able to reveal yourself..I hope I answered some questions if any and good luck...it will be tuff

This is basicly evil faction. You rais Venthril Sathir faction your good in all evil places. Not like the braids where it it just for Overthere, even if the braids did do VS faction, ya, its gonna be slow and hard to rais it cause your talkin ALL evil race, thats ogre, troll , and dark elf. Ya just cant do it without killin big mobs. I have a 52warrior(ogre) and a 56enchanter(dark elf) and i hunted in Karnors castle. Boy was that ever a mistake. Look what i gotta do now. Being 55 Hopefully wont be hard to get a good amount of Braids to TRY the quest and see how many it will take to get my faction up so that i can at least enter the city. FURTHUR MORE i have TWO characterst to do!! Evil faction is the hardest to get. You get it when you start the game, DONT MESS IT UP!!

You don't really have to worry about screwing up your factio for the SK epic. The NPC who starts off Inny's Curse in OT isn't on VS faction, he's on TrueSpirit faction and you'll be apprehensive to him. He's located near the shore in the outpost, far enough away from the NPC's on VS faction for you to be able to start off your epic without any problems. Just don't fear kite inside the outpost :P

I've tried just about every illusion i can think of that a lvl 39 enchanter has. Spiritwolf does not work, even with benevolence cast on the guards. The ogre and dark elf in the building where the braid quest takes place are dubious to me. But the SK Iksar and the guards outside are kos. As soon as invis drops the guards comethrought the walls (I frigin hate that aspect of the game) and kill me in 2 seconds. I don't have the werewolf illusion but I'm told it's just as kos as Iksar illusion so that's a dead end as well.

Not seen this mentioned - but I'm pretty sure this is right. Your faction depends on your religion. I know 2 people, one a human mage worshipping a good god. One a Human bard who was Agnostic. The bard managed to increase his faction to the point he could hand in the braids by killing sarnaks. The mage did the same - but NEVER got off KOS. I am an erudite mage (agnostic) I was threatening when i got there, killed a lot of sarnaks in LoIO then became dubious at the outpost. Handed in a lot of braids and eventually got amiable and the hammer.

Im assuming that the elemental form will bump you up one level of faction. if your are scowls then you become threatingly with potion. Threatingly becomes Apprehinsive to dubious to amiable etc... Ok here this goes if you really are commited to gaining faction with VS try this out

1) Go to Cazic in the maze you will find a clay golem, if you are lucky, this takes a LONG LONG time once you get about 6-7 of his common drop a potion that changes you into an earth elemental go to OT if you are high enough lvl you can kill berzerkers easy collect as many as you can carry, carefull you cant run with a full load of braids before you enter the city use one of the potions.

2) Give the braids to Rot Grime while you are an elemental and compleat the quest this takes quite a while to raise your faction once you are able to get amiable by useing the potion you can get your hammer and when not in ele form you will be dubious so you dont have to worry about TPing into your death

one thing people seem to forget about this faction is, at level 50 you can process the hammer you need amiable faction to get. Ports you directly to overthere. Makes traveling a bit easier. I made level 55 without ever touching KC or other such dungeons. Traveling is a lot easier to do when you got a hammer. So if you've got this faction, and you're not a porting class, i'd recommend trying to keep it

The OT sucks. I could care less about banking or buying/selling there. There IS one thing i am concerned about. If i'm KOS in the overthere how do i get my 50+ vendor spells? I ruined my faction getting my shield of spectral essence. Will i just have to pay some one to go get them for me? I looked over the faction list and it doesn't mention the spell merchants being on the same faction as OT.
OT Faction

The OverThere just SUCKS. There are no trainers, the clockwork merchants rip you off, the clockwork bankers pick items up and destroy them...

I just said forget it and got all my iksar factions up to at least indifferent. I'd much rather go there and buy/sell/bank than that stupid Outpost. Besides all the good items and exp in Kunark pretty much gives negative OT faction. I will be VERY KOS there by the time I hit 60.

We went to MM to work on Dragon faction after killing stuff in skyfire.

We killed the Advisor and he gave good Venril Sathir faction.... Only a 4 hour spawn between faction adjustments.

Wonder if they ahve added others?

Is there any physical possibility that a half elf ranger can do this quest? Camo? Some spell cast by a friendly helper? Hints appreciated at sheba@indigo.hetzel.org

It's in the northeast part of the zone; when you enter the Overthere from Warsliks Woods, turn right (north) and you'll get there.

Youn must be (#3.) truelly young under 30 to not be able to do said quest....So might it not be better to stay closer to home? I know many places for great educational (#4.) posibilties much closer to home....If you still feel like going and banking in place you are to young for and feel like pushing the subject the only advice i can (#5.) givee (#6.) u is ....go sit at the opening of the Pass to frontier mountains.....and beg or offer to pay for the looting (#7.) right s from the sarnak (#8.) beskers that the weaker (races??) races leave laying and vanishing one the ground..........

LOL dude if you are going to try and embarass someone for no good reason, please make sure you dont pathetically misspell everything you write. not that the typos and spelling errors were your only fault, the whole post was poorly written... it reeked of the scribbling of the mentally inferior.
...basically you sounded like a jackass.
its clear you try to knock others down to compensate for your own glaring inadequacies. people like you disgust me.

on a different note,
anyone else but me notice the same people who author posts flaming at "low level n00bs" often are the same people whos signature ALWAYS includes their charicters name/class/race/religion/server/other useless info yet "clumsily overlooks" his/her level? hmmm i wonder why.

I agree with my friend here. If you are going to insult someone and try to make them look like the fool, try not to do it to yourself in the process. Remember, all of us were once newbies, and you my friend who thinks themself so wise to call others Young One, are not exempt from that fact.

VS FACTION FIXES
# Dec 12 2000 at 1:33 PM Rating: Default
Ok from all the possiblities here is how you can raise VS faction.....

1. the sarnak warbrain quest- you can do it when you are dubious, which means you can do in wolf form also!

2. Kunark dragons- if you are high 30s or higher you must find a raid that is going on to slay one of these dragons and get there and just shoot of ONE cast and you will get the faction adjustment. Being that its a dragon the hit will be a pretty big Good hit. Good luck.

**please post if you find anyother ways to raise it**

Am i really screwed?

I'm in deep sh*t right now. I am kind of newbie and
i had no idea that factions
where so important. I have a main char called Harma
on The Rathe, he is a Dark
Elf Wizard level 19. At level 17 i went to TD and
started killing orges, the
thing is that i had NO idea that orges have the
faction Venril Sathir...well
its said so after every kill but i didnt know it
would screw me this much...now
i am KOS to Venril Sathir. The thing is that the
NPC's in Overthere in kunark
has the faction Venril Sathir.....and now i am kos
to them, i wont be abel to
go there. And as you probebly know Overthere is an
important place for dark
elves, and wizards....quest spells and stuff there.
I have asked some people in
the same area but they said that its not possible to
change a faction back,
there is no VS faction mobs. I just wanna belive
that becouse i've been playing
like a dork to get this long, and i just dont wanna give it up. Is there
anything i can do? How will i get neutral or even
better friend with my friends
in Overthere whose faction is Venril Sathir???

I would appreciate an answer!

You're screwed for all practical purposes. If you want an outpost, you should just head over to the goblin lair and ruins and start working on Firiona Vie faction. You might still have to steer clear of the barbarians in Firiona Vie.

That would be interesting to see. Captain Rottgrime and his whole platoon are undead and can see through invisibility. The entire rest of the outpost can see through invisibility to undead.

Just sazve anyon else from the death, when you turn something in, you don't "loose" invis ICON, but invis goes as far as that NPC is concerned. Also, someone looking at you with see invis will se the "()" go away, but you still have the icon.

If you are KOS, as soon as you click "give" you get attacked.

Hey there,

If you are KoS with Captain Rottgrime there is not much you can do. If you are anything less than KoS then do the berzerker braids quest and you can raise your faction.

Hope you are not totally KoS...

Has anyone ever tried doing the qyest in wolf form from share wolf form druid spell
or Elemental form for the ball of golem clay? After going in thse forms you might get indifferent im too lazy to check, and then you could do the warbraid quest to raise faction.

GAH...So I cant buy/sell in Kunark? (little long)
# Nov 07 2000 at 1:32 PM Rating: Default
Hrmm...Problems problems. Being a lvl 19 gnome necro, I'm hoping that the only answer to this is NOT 'you'll have to go to the mainland', but...

I'd already been killing OOT pirates (Zyle & Dale) for 3 levels, and almost each kill raising my FV faction twice (once for kill and once for turning in earring to Styria). So we'll say, 100 kills, making rougly 150 to 175 positive faction boosts (earring drops about 4 out of 5 kills). Other positive's include boosts for the GFay elven factions (I also hung out in Crushbone for these), and I know THOSE were effective since I'm warmly to druid rogue or warrior wood elf NPC (like the Sisters), and certain high elves too, and indeed, I can sell in spots within Kelethin and Felwithe. Now, why wouldn't my FV faction be warmly at this point? I thought I'd check out Kunark for the first time, and try and hoof it to Ill Omen. I hop on the boat (which I jumped off too early the first time and got popped by a drachnid in the middle of FV bay), and get ready to jump off docks and I get guardpopped. Luckily THAT corpse didnt have any stuff as my equipment was all still in the middle of the bay..

A couple days ago, I try for the Overthere. Imagine my glee when: A> I stay on the damn boat, and B> I get off, see skellies, see skellies not KOSing. Conning dubious! Woohoo! Sanctuary! I con everything I see as I walk into town, all dubious. Find the bank, and thank goodness, I can use it. Very happy. Go to sell in the caster merchants, all dubious too...sort of no surprise to me since most of em are DEs, and I'm not looked kindly on by some DE factions. Then I find the Tin Merchants, and I think, YEAH!!! CLOCKWORKS!! Just like home! But no...they're all anti-gnome racist pigs!!

So...this leaves me to believe I can't buy or sell in Kunark without either killing Faydedar or the dragons a bunch of times (which would make me level 19 gnome toe cheese...hahaha), or somehow keep boosting my FV faction which at this point already seems useless to try to do. I figure my FV would have to be at least off of KOS for all the pro-FV faction xp I have..no?
RE: GAH...So I cant buy/sell in Kunark? (little long)
# Nov 10 2000 at 2:57 PM Rating: Decent
Arg, sorry, I'm still figuring out the post system.

Your number of + faction hits to go from KOS to apprehensive in FV is proably more like 500-1000. So, If FV is your choice, kill LOTS of pirates, plus Kunark goblins, each of which gives you +FV and +Legion of Cabilis.

Remember, even if you get off KOS with Cabilis Legionarres, you'll be KOS to all the other Iksar, untill you do the Bone chip quest 500-1000 times.

All in all, you may be best staying with the Overthere& getting someone to shop for you (or keeping a load o'food in the bank) untill you can do the Sarnak War Braids to raise VS to apprehensive.

Sorry, but that's about where it stands
