faerie guards in Greater Faydark
# Feb 05 2018 at 12:30 AM Rating: Good
killing "a faerie guard" in Greater Faydark results in a faction hit of -2 to "Fairie".

I killed a coutier in Gfay today, as an indifferent wood elf ranger that hasn't (that I recall) killed any before.

the one kill was a -2 faction hit and took me into apprehensive.

The fact that there is one known quest to raise this faction (and no kill options) is interesting, but if the faction doesn't provide anything (i.e., a questline at ally) then not sure it has any value even on a progression server or guild situation.

Reading through the posts it does sound like there may be some unsolved stuff here, probably easiest to investigate as a good race chanter that hasn't killed fairies (alliance would work on npc this old if there is quests to find).

There's always roleplay too I suppose.

Went further with faction and it seems I overlooked a possibility. Amiable is 800 point span on faieie which makes gnome illusion 1500. collaboration is 600 even though Lucy says 300. why do I say that? Mojax milk quest and other things. 1 milk gved you 1 faction message. it takes 200 milks to get trhough apprehensive, 200 through indiff, 700 through amiable, 500 kindly and 700 warmly. Once you know those numbers, you can use collaboration and see that at high amiable you can get to warmly using collaboration. can also go from dubious to amiable using it if you are high enough in dubious. you can use it in low amiable and stay amiable. same with warmly. so collaboration has to be over 500 but under 700. assuming you set 1 faction hit from a milk to be 1 point. and if you do a few tasks after reaching a certain point, having figure out how many points each task is worth, you can figure out exactly how many points collaboration is. get to amiable, hand in 100 more milks and then use collaboration and snce you then turn kindly you know its exactly 600. I wish I had used illusions then to test their values. Better yet, I wish they would publish the actual effects.

Keeping careful records, each task is +20 to fairie, which was already established. Just reiterating it. I also discovered that gnome illusion add 1400 points to faction ( at least with fairie). And that amiable span is 700 points. I am currently halfway thorugh indifferent ( 5 tasks done ) and its taken quite a few hours. lucky for me I got to clean the closet and bathroom and kitchen while I was camping the various mobs.

I did this task many times. I have been working on raising this faction. I am a dark elf agnostic enchanter. I got myself dubious. Then I used collaboration and still was dubious. So I did this task until I got to apprehensive while in De form using collaboration. Knowing apprehensive is a 200 point span, I carefully docusmneted every task I did until I made it to indifferent. It took 10 tasks. which translates into 20 points per task. Not a lot for the amount of work involved, but if you want thie faction its your only known choice.

I just did a portion of the Raincaller quest where you aquire a faerie princess wing from Sanfyrd Featherhead in Ak'anon and then give it to Princess Joleena. When I gave her wing back to her she thanked me and gave me a pouch of gold faerie dust, and a bit of good faerie faction. I haven't touched a faerie before, so I was indifferent (being a High Elf Paladin), and after the turn in I was still indifferent. The faction change must not be very big, because indifferent isn't a large faction range, if I remember correctly. So, if you are looking to raise your Faerie faction, this is probably the only (painfully slow) way.

[Mon Aug 28 23:42:57 2006] Princess Joleena says 'You wish the magical fairie gold dust? Hmmph!! I refuse to offer it to any of the giants of Faydwer. How can I trust any of you? You have crept up on me and snatched one of my wings from my back. There will be no fairie gold dust until my wing has been returned to me. You may not be the stalker [who snatched my wing], but all you giants are alike. Prove me wrong and return my wing!'

[Mon Aug 28 23:43:19 2006] Princess Joleena says 'I did not see the swift giant. I was blinded by the sun glaring off his balding head. I do remember the smell of rust and refuse. How he got past my clockwork guardian Gearheart is a mystery to us all.'

Little Buggers
# Jan 01 2004 at 5:45 PM Rating: Decent
Unfortuantly it still seems there is no know way to raise faction with these buggers. Back in the old days, prior to Luclin and the lot I traveled to Gfay to start my quest as the good Dark Elf that I am today. When I was fighting these little buggers would always chase me. I avoided killing them cause that are faries, but darned if I didn't want to send a nuke or 5 their way. Evil races will find that they are the worst part of being a newb in Gfay, now that POK is around it's prob easier, but back in my day you had to sprint to a zone cause the elves didn't want me at first. Now I can walk into any elven city. How nice.
Those damn faeries

Merry Meet!
Well, it is official, I, a wood elf ranger, am KOS to faeries. I don't need the ivy etched armor, mine is better. I don't need Raincaller, my bow is far more superior. Those are the only 2 reasons that I could see needing faerie faction at this time. I do not know how to raise the faction. To be honest, while in Lesser Fay yesterday I had a GREAT time slaughtering the little wenches. So, I guess my "scowls, ready to attack" is well-earned. However...if there is a way to mend my ways with the little winged witches...I would love to know. If you have any information on raising faerie faction, please do not hesitate to post it, for I will gladly try it out and announce my results. Thank you and Blessed Be.

$%&#! Faeries
# Jan 21 2003 at 12:46 AM Rating: Decent
Hail all,

I have a new Ogre Shammy and enjoy hunting Orcs in GFay between the Orc Lift in Kelethin & The Orc Camps bordering Crushbone. EVERYTIME time I'm there killing Orcs I get waylayed by Faerie Courtiers, which con red to me - I'm at level 6 at the time of this posting.

I would love to do something to raise faction with these deceitfully cute but oh-so nasty little vermin - you'd think that me skewering Orcs with my spear would help. If anyone out there knows, please post a solution to this faction-raising mystery!

Good hunting,

Someone told me once long ago that VI made it known that there were ways to raise (and lower) EVERY faction in the game, yet this one seems to have been overlooked unless there is a rare spawn or quest NPC that has yet to be discovered. How many fairy kills does it take to ruin your faction with them? I have hunted down about a half-dozen of them with my Ranger. I'm not really concerned about Raincaller, I just don't want them sneaking up on me at an inconvenient moment.

Faeries
# Jun 02 2002 at 4:02 AM Rating: Decent
Faerie faction has *nothing* to do with PoG quests. My druid hunted the faeries until they were green, gaining several levels and making them hate me more than I can imagine. Yet I am still warmly in PoG and was able to do my Earthcrafting Gloves.

If I recall, Faerie faction is important for a low level enchanter quest. But don't quote me on that.
Faeries.. crap
# May 25 2002 at 10:23 PM Rating: Default
OK I killed a lot of faeries and I didn't know I needed faction for them to get my 50+ items from the plane of growth and they are apprehensive to me. Is that still good? can I raise it somehow? also do bixies have anything to do with this because I killed one holy hell of a lot of them and they are scowling at me is this GOOD OR BAD???

I'm a wood elf druid, should I care about faerie faction?
RE: Slydn
# May 25 2002 at 10:30 PM Rating: Default
Yes you should. You need to have good Faerie faction to get your items from Tunare in the Plane of Growth when you're level 46. Don't kill them and ***** up like me =p

If you need fairie Faction, and want to do rain caller or Armor of RO, pay for the Dusts off Like 20pp per dust that will get any newbie off his but and kill fairie's and get dusts for you, and Bam no faction hit for you :) thats the way I do it, heehee

Speak Faerie?

I've heard of speaking Faerie and Dragon and whatnot. How do you learn them?
Way to raise faction?
# Sep 05 2001 at 2:11 AM Rating: Good
There may be a way to raise your faction with them, but you must have good faction to start with (either by wolf/bear form, benevolence spell etc.), high amiable I believe. You have to speak faerie and get the Princess to give you a quest (I don't think she gives the keywords, have to figure them yourself). The quest is to get an Ogre head from Butcherblock (Corflunk & Zarchoomi), which when returned to her you get the Faerie Cavalier Lance (6dam, 23del, +2Agi, +2 Dex, +6Cha, Effect: Alliance (3charges), All races, WAR PAL RAN ROG BAR SHM SHD. Not sure if it increases faction or not though. Plus the problem of having good faction to start with. It may be possible to do it once you have the lance (it can be traded) because Alliance is a faction increasing spell but it only raises faction by 100.

BTW, if you find out how exactly to get the lance please post under the items, as I would like to get it myself :)

Faries and Paladins

Why would a Paladin attack faries any way. Even for a quest. Not very Paladin like now is it.
RE: Faries and Paladins
# Nov 16 2001 at 1:09 PM Rating: Decent
Cause our guild calls for it, Every part of the Armor of Ro quest requires 4 Fairy duts to get the Soil of underfoot. Why would our ally's the Clerics give us a Quest that is not Paladin worthy not to mention how else are we going to get our good Armor?

Raising Faction
# Jul 27 2001 at 9:10 AM Rating: Excellent
There is no way to significantly raise the faction with the faeries.
Best way to do it is to harmony the group, then use sneak to become indiff. Even if they are KoS to you you will still be able to complete the quest using this method.

Whatever you do DONT hail the priestess while sneaking, she'll turn around and hand your *** to you

Good luck fellow rangers

Heh, that's kind of funny, since the reason I was looking at this page was because I didn't know if apprehensive was good enough to do Raincaller, because just once, I helped heal a then-lowbie ranger named Sofrea while she was getting beat up by too many faeries. That'll teach ya to help out your fellow rangers in need. :p
