Collect four runnyeye war beads and hand them to the sherriff of RV. One of the few ways to raise the faction with the merchants in RV. Of course doing this kills your faction with the goblins (which con amiably to me right now since I killed every muddite I ever saw) but usually there's dead goblins laying around unlooted in Misty Thicket so take look at the corpses.

Is there anyway to raise your faction with the Rivervale Merchants other than killing Mooto, et al?

you can also kill grunrich to gain faction. And there is a nice quest i did every time i was in town: go to the Woman left to the druid guild entrance, tell her that zou will take the turnip, then she gives you a bag which you carry to deputy eigon that stands next to the wall.
Just a note, DO NOT kill gunrich as he will actually LOWER your faction. HE is a goblin spy in Misty Thicket. hehe if you don't beleive me, attack gunrich but don't kill him. Then run to the guards with him on your tail and guess what? Suddenly not only is gunrich trying to kill you, but the halflings guards at the wall will help him kill you!

do the stew quest which required you to run from thief guild to bank.It's very near.

Nope. Muddites do nothing for RV merchant faction. Tried it tonight.

The critters in the Gorge do NOT help RV merchant faction.
