Now that Mistmore is a high level zone, and the mobs that were there were put in a small spot in LFay(with only 10 spawns at the most), what is the best way to faction with RoS now? Several things that used to give RoS faction no longer does(like Vox)
Mistmoore is back to the way it was (level 20-30 mobs). Was pulling the whole zone and AE'ing it last night.

There are still plenty of Snow Orc Troopers : ) that and there are about 4 different camps in Lfay for the Dark Elves now. some aren't even marked on the map.
Snow Orc Troopers are incorrectly listed as giving RoS faction. I just killed about two dozen of them with no RoS adjustment.

In High Keep, Starr Dreamspinner and Storm Dragonchaser, the 2 bards and Mistress Anna on the top floor are all on RoS faction.. give the same faction hits as the nobles.
If you have your (updated) key to Veeshan's Peak, you can check your RoS faction in the zone itself, whether or not you are kos. I just did it, and discovered I'm still scowling. But I was invis, and saw that nothing near the zone saw through it. I didn't go in the lava so I can't say that's safe. But I dropped invis, walked to the clicky port out dragon statue that's now located very nearby (can't miss it), reinvised and clicked out, without any agro from anything. So no more dragging druids out to West Wastes to hunt for that very elusive Esorpa anymore....

Yes they are both seperate factions and their quests don't really conflict with each other.

Aside from zoning into VP, is there anyway to check your faction? Basically is there any mobs outside of VP that are on RoS faction?
Everything in skyfire is ros.

Escorpa of the Ring in Western Wastes, Gorenaire and Talendor are all on RoS faction.
Low 'Ally' con is not, repeat NOT, enough for the new VP quests (as of Aug 1, 2004). Hoskar wouldn't even talk to me (see session 4 below)m ge gives the message about needing to prove myself before he will speak with me.
edit: I came back a bit later w/o max ally and he was able to talk w/me. Guess it's somewhere between ally and max ally?

Numbers are from grepping my log file for "Ring of Scale got better". For instance, after session #1, there were 640 faction hit messages for +ROS. Numbers are culmulative.

So if you got like a wizard and a puller together, and AE'ed MM over and over, How long would it take you to get to Ally? (So far my friend and I are going on 9 hours to Dubious. not how fast we did it though) And does anyone have an alternat way of factioning up? if so, post how long/what from kos to ally

Bring a bard.. mana song for caster AE'ers and we have stackable AE dots that are manaless, infinite # of mobs, and do some pretty nice dmg (Remember that Chords of Dissonance level one newbie bard song? 112 per tick)

I was roaming around in Ocean of Tears, and on one of the islands there are gargoyles.(Green to lvl 54 ... dunno what lvl they are). Faction as follows:
Mayong Mistmoore - worse
King Teris Thex - better
Agents of Mistmoore - worse
League of Antonican Bards - better
Ring of Scale - Better
There are also Skellies and spectres on the island, no faction for killing those.

I know why I need CoV - I have worked up to warmly.

ok gonna clear up a few things. First Cov= claws of vashaan and RoS= ring of scale they have NOTHING in common or togather. My guild kills trak/gore and alot of dragons in WW thus im KOS to both factions they have nothing to do with each other. I dont know why youd want to be good with dragons only good thing they good for is killing

You now need ally with CoV and as yet undetermined good faction with RoS in order to do some of the new quests out of Veeshan's Peak.

I am a level 54 warrior that i play with a 54 shaman (my Partner) and my daughters 52 ranger. we fight as a trio and have fought in very zone. sf (skyfire provides the best xp for us at this level. Unless being forced into a guilde or forced into big groups is an option, we have seen to many politics and people with attitudes. that being said killing the wurms is coolest graphic in game so far and the spell drops are great. I accept the faction hit because gorenair wiped me out with aoe when my faction was (good). go figure. fight well and true.

If you were grouped or near someone who was KoS to Gorenare, her AoE spell would also hit you even if you are amiable to her. It's an Area Effect spell, if you are within range of the attack, you get hit as well.
Gorenare will also attack a chanter's illusion form and a druid's/ranger's wolf form. Even if that person is not KoS to Gorenare.
My cleric plays in a specific group each time. I am currently level 45. We killed about 4 mobs in Skyfire, I will be trying to 'fix' my RoS faction now :)

I have maxed ring of scale faction. I have been camping vhalen Nolstrom (spelling is bad) whom is a bard @ -200 200, the fountain hes about level 30 or so.... I wonder if I can get some decent quests from these dragons and where the heck are they in kunark?

Veeshan orignally deposited her dragons on Velious (as we all know). The Velious dragons' faction are Claws of Veeshan. According to Norrath lore, Jaled Dar didn't like the way the leader of CoV (Yelinack, I believe) was running things, so he gathered up some dragons and the basically revolted, leaving Velious and setting up the Ring of Scale in Kunark. If the Ring of Scale are rebels from the Claws of Veeshan (who follow Veeshan obviously), that might explain why they're KOS to worshippers of Veeshan.

in North Qeynos head to the gates and head right all the way and you'll find a dark elf who isn't kos(unless you did something in highkeep).he cons black or blue at 15 ( think) and hits kinda hard for such a lvl.i killed him and factions raised only in ring of scale,faction worse with highkeep.It seems the dragons also hate Highkeep,but why? another thing to add in this mystery

Kill the King of Kaladim 6 or 7 times, and you will go from KoS to Ally with Ring of Scale. Plus, hes a 5 minute spawn, so it can be done quickly..

kill things in MM. Anything will boost it. For COV kill Dires and Frost Giants.

So if Ring of Scale is the "good" dragon faction (dragons are neutral, Veeshan is a neutral god), how is this possible that they are opposed to bards, and that raising bard faction will lower ring of scale faction ?
And moreover how is this possible that bards, beeing the only ones who can worship Veeshan (as far as I have heard) could kill bards to raise ring of scail faction ?
It seems very strange that a bard, beeing a Veeshan worshipper, should choose between the bard faction and the Ring Of Scail faction, or we should be very cautious killing enemies that do not lower one or the other, and never do bardic quests.

The truth of it you can get from VP in Kunark. Basically, all dragons worshipped Veeshan and sought new ways to worship and improve themselves in their deity's sight. Then the humans came and the dragons had split into two opinions of them. Half said to ignore them and go back to Veeshan worship while the other half realized the weakness and easily manipulated aspects of the humans and wished to use them to serve their purposes. But, since it is a punishment worse than death for a dragon to kill a dragon, much less ordering the murder of another, the group who favored human control over Veeshan worship decided to alleviate tensions in Velious and departed for Kunark, thus becoming the Ring of Scale. No Ring of Scale dragon is KOS to a Claws of Veeshan dragon, though most wish to rip each other apart, they do not, so being ally to ROS will not make you KOS to COV and vice versa.

I believe the ring of scale are considered heretics to the CoV, which is the velious dragon faction. In one quest a dragon on CoV faction asks you if you have killed other dragons, and says something about good if you tell him yes and mentions the ring of scale being evil.

You DEFINITELY don't get faction from snow orc troopers. I've killed about 100 and no faction either way.

I spent 13 hours Saturday 12/23 killing Ice Giants in Everfrost for their Essences of Winter and I did not get one faction adjustment from them for those kills. I do not know if this has been removed or is bugged.

I tried ice giants, orcs in everfrost, gobs from permafrost, and yet i got no faction hit with ring of scale.
Is there anyway to get faction hits with ring of scale, even if it s by killing some bards?

Please i really need to improve that faction dubious means at first succesful raid ill get kos and wont be able to travel in the dreadlands or emerald jungle anymore (not convenient for teleports...) i heard people with wolf form already got wiped out as soon as they went through the tunnel in the dreadlands and if i get kos in normal form Ill have to take the boats (that s not funny!)

I fought in Mistmoore from level 25 to 31. Everything in Mistmoore, with the exception of Synthii and maybe a couple more will raise your ring of scale faction. I don't know what Mistmoore did to piss of the dragons, but they love it when you kill his followers.

To get faction with RoS you can hunt in Mistmoore. If you are getting a message like: "Your faction with blah blah got worse" and no positive faction hits, you have to let the Mistmoore folks kill you, then you can gain again. Stupid? Maybe. But so is faction in this game.

odd...the person needing faction would be a bard doing his/her epic weopon quest...and in order to do the epic weopon quest, the bard must kill a bard to get good faction with gorenaire(ring of scale) EQ politics...can't escape them

Ring of Scale is the faction that the mobs of Veeshan's peake are connected to. It is almost impossible to get enough faction with them to become non-KOS. This is to make veeshan's peake THAT much harder, so noone can scout ahead and time pulls. But I am still going to try to get non-KOS =P Maybe some bard (being the ONLY people able to follow veeshan) will be able to get non-KOS, doubtfull though.

Aye, I'm a bard who follows Veeshan. When I con'd an Ancient ShardWurm it glared at me threateningly, I hope it was a bug, anyhow when I get to a higher level I'll start raising my faction with Claws of Veeshan and ROS.
But I'm clueless to how Verant set this up, I'm in the works of trying to get a list from Verant with my starting faction with everybody. I don't see how I could serve my God without knowing who she likes and dislikes.

Shardwurms are not dragons, despite their similar appearance. They are not any faction whatsoever, much less any dragon faction (such as Claws of Veeshan or Ring of Scale). They are KOS to everyone, and always will be.
Safest place to check Claws of Veeshan faction is to port into Cobalt Scar and see what the drakes and wyverns con to you (even though killing them doesn't affect CoV, they will regard you the same way CoV does.)
A true follower of Veeshan shouln't be trying to raise Ring of Scale faction... they are considered rebels against the true followers of Veeshan, by the dragons in Velious. It would be more realistic for a Veeshanite bard to work on Claws of Veeshan faction instead, in my opinion.

Further puzzlement, Killing certain things in Mistmoore will increase faction with the Ring of Scale, and with Bards, while Bards have opposite faction with the Ring of Scale... While possible that all of them hate each other, it seems odd to me.

Something similiar goes on when you kill Dark Deathsinger, you get good faction with both the Ring and Mayong, while losing it with the League of Antonican Bards, the Knights of Truth and, er... oh, who was it?? Obviously no one importaNT. :) I plan on killing Dark a lot. I want good faction with the dragons cause when I bought EQ I had no idea that soling a dragon would NOT be something I could end up doing. Now I'm living the moto, if you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I think this falls under "the enemy of my enemy is my friend." Bards and dragons might not get along all that well, but they can put that aside for a moment to feed their mutual bloodlust for Mayong and crew.

Ok, then why do i gain faction from them for killing bards? Why would "good" bards hate "good" dragons?

During the GM event in AkAnon before Kunark opened, Mayong Mistmoore tortured a Young Dragon for some information. During the discourse, it was revealed that the evil dragons Nagafen and Vox had been cast out of the "Ring of Scale" - indicating, I believe, that Ring of Scale is the faction of the "good" dragons.
Not really a good/evil question... Veeshan is a neutral deity, after all. It's my understanding that the Ring of Scale is a splinter group that broke off of Claws of Veeshan for political reasons, not religious ones... and although they opposed the Claws of Veeshan, they still consider themselves Veeshan followers, probably.
Vox and Nagafen were kicked out of the Ring of Scale for different reasons... namely for attempting to mate, something forbidden for dragons of different colors to do. See the whole Sleeper's Tomb fiasco to see why this is forbidden...

This faction is definately related to the new VOI expansion. There will be a city of Dragons, and this faction will be associated with them.
