Classes: The Druid

Druids - a powerful outdoor class. With the triple ability to heal, inflict direct damage and cast damage over time, druids are a popular solo class, as well as popular in a group. They are also a travelling class, given both sow and teleportation abilities.

How should you play your druid to make the best use of his abilities? What are the best solo strategies? How should the druid be played within a group? What spells are the most and least useful? What skills should you develop?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Druid and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

This has been bugging me for a while, what is the use of the druids bear pet. crap dps it hits for anything between 1 and 30 that i've seen, seriously poor hp and low level. So what is the point in him?

speedbump to give you time to evac.

Even with a full TSS era pet kit, they are pretty much useless by the time you get them. Basically just for fun, like most of the new clicky familiars.

You have to be kidding me, just for fun?

The druid pet is simply the best dps in the game, hands down, i've seen it out dps an anguish geared rogue.

Where/what lvl do you actually GET the pet? I have seen Feral Spirit spell, lvl 18, to buff pet, but no where to actually get a pet.

In Vanguard you can get bear pets, which are acctually decent! But the best thing is you can name them.

The spell is Nature Walker's Behest level 55, Tindaial.

This is usually the only time when I bring Fuzzy out to play. It is great fun rushing him out there with the warders, mage pets, & necro pets and telling them to watch out, Fuzzy is about to put them to shame with his uberness. Unfortunately, Fuzzy seems to like eating rampage, and dies a lot Smiley: cry

As to their worthlessness, you have to remember when the pets became available to us. And Verant admitted back in the day that they were never to be considered serious pets, rather just something to have for fun.

Don't take everything so serious, and realize that Verant devs wanted to make the game enjoyable, and ocassionally threw little quirks like this out there to make it a little more fun.

OK- I guess it's time to reveal my druids deapest secret. Ask a friendly Shaman to cast Inner Fire on your pet. Go to DPoB and send pet on Zi'Thulii. Watch in disbelief.

Yeah, I know. There's no turning back after that, is there?

Ah, I have fun with the little bear guy. I use it to pharm stuff in lowbie zones and as a sort of minor league "dot" I don't have to recast very often. Just don't let it get killed, LOL. Now that you have mercs, bear pet is just that much more DPS and it's kinda fun. Of course, it dies if a mob looks at it cross-eyed, but you can't have everything. If you want a powerful pet, go to a zone and charm the nastiest one of the animals you can find. Just hope your merc can save your butt when charm breaks.
