Classes: The Druid

Druids - a powerful outdoor class. With the triple ability to heal, inflict direct damage and cast damage over time, druids are a popular solo class, as well as popular in a group. They are also a travelling class, given both sow and teleportation abilities.

How should you play your druid to make the best use of his abilities? What are the best solo strategies? How should the druid be played within a group? What spells are the most and least useful? What skills should you develop?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Druid and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

What is best Class to be a Druids Side Kick?

HI, I play Druid, and was wanting to make a 2nd Char to be his side kick. I was wondering what would make a good combination? Druid and Cleric? or Druid and War? or Druid and Mage? ect. I would like to be able to hunt with just my Druid and my side kick but don't know what would make a good match?

Druid+mage or druid+necro are pretty good combos. Having a pet class would be nice so you can have something tank and you can avoid attempting to kite with two classes.

Umm I don't know what level you are when you said let pet tank but when you hit the Planes a necro pet will last about 20 seconds tanking.Necro the best to group with. Both Druid and Necro can root and snare(if 1 fails)bot have dots and dd.Root rotting made easy.Necro can take aggro then feign death, druid gets aggro,Necro stands back up throws a few aggro causing DD, takes aggro.I've kited ,fear kited, root rotted and this I call Aggro Ping-Pong!necro has small heals, can do a 850 heal later on (with aa's heals for 3k time to timeand transfer mana if need be between pulls.Use mage if planning on pet tanking IMO.

Yeah, you're right, but for the first 50 levels that's a viable option. From then on you can have the necro kite while the druid full dots (cause there's no way a druid's getting aggro off of necro dots). Problem solved.

If you want a fun challenge try a druid/chanter combo. With chanter charm you can have a pet tank mobs and keep ds/buff/haste on pet. And what helps the chanter is that the druid snares the mob and helps the chanter buy time to recharm when it breaks. Those are probably the two best classes for handling a charmed mob. A charmed mob under the right control is also a better tank than any player tank can be- especially at lower levels. Also having unlimited clarity/kei is very welcomed.

Myself and a friend both leveled into our 50's hunting a druid/cleric combo. I was the cleric and occasionally tanked while he dotted. Fear and snare works very well.

I sidekick to my friends 70 mage, with my 69 druid. Mage pets make decent tanks, can hold agro pretty well. I like air pets cause they do stuns, but earth pets seem easier to heal. Regen them and heal them while their master does the nuke thing.

I have also agro kited with a necro which was decent, but requires more room than I normally use for quad kiting. Course not a lot of quadding to be done at level 69, but agro and fear kiting gives a change of pace to rotting.

Druids and bards are AWESOME combo!

Druid has the heals, DSes, DoTs, nukes, evac spells.

Bard can tank, has mana regen song, can do AoE mezzing, etc.

Druid + Bard = Best of both worlds ^^

A druid + bard combo is great for root-dotting. Have the bard pull, and the druid will root and snare. Then both can start stacking the dots. I two boxed with this method for a long time before /melody was introduced (meaning I twisted the dot songs myself). Since neither class has a dot with a DD component, you won't break root with a snare. Plus, you only need to keep the mob rooted for 80% of it's life, it will flee (ie stand there with snare) for the last 20%.

Recently root rotted with a Necro in Vxed. Necro snared if I couldnt, I rooted, we both dotted and everything died. (Left the summoners alone of course.)

Recently agro kited in NC for a wizzy to nuke. I pissed the mobs off and kept them after me and the wizzy nuked for all he was worth. He wanted to know how I was keeping agro: Flame Lick does wonders.

I have duo'd with SK's and Monks and Warriors, Tanking, while I DPS and healed.

Trio'd with a Wizzy and Pally, (DPS and Heals) and frequently trio with a Cleric and Enchanter (DPS)

I am convinced Necros and Mages are who we work with best, but I think we can duo with just about anyone, depending on where you are hunting, and how you are hunting. Our flexibility allows us to compliment almost anyone.

I think in todays game best sidekick for a druid would be imo a beast, slows dps buffs mana regen, ability to have tank and dps all in 1 package. after that i say bard.then necro.

Bst - the ability to slow would be a great addition. Bst can help out with the kit with pet and dots and then when mob is low bst can step in and tank it.
Also having a bst gives you some chance to do nameds / mobs that summon.

Maybe the best lesson learned from these posts is that druids are great sidekicks to a number of classes Smiley: grin .

It really boils down to the fact that if both players know what they are doing, you can still accomplish a lot in Everquest, even when duoing.

My husband and I have been duoing a Druid and BL for awhile now. We can't do the big content of a power group, but can handle most anything else.

The biggest problem I'm finding as we push towards 70 is crowd-control. I mostly root-park, but but if I have more than one mob to park it gets a little hairy.

Zones we're currently working at 63 and 64 are Nobles Causeway, Bloodfields, Veksars (for the crowds!), BoT, CoD.

I'm a 70 druid, and my friend plays a 70 SK. We have duoed together since before Luclin came out, and always had a blast. The knight doesn't have as much dps as a BL but you make up for that with the ability to Feign pull and the solid tanking ability, which becomes important when you start doing some of the heavier farming/instances.

Best Combo Kiting = druid and necro. The #1 and #2 kiters in the game are necros and druids. Plus necro can FD pull and the druid can tag with snare then kite it.

Best Combo Melee = druid and beastie. A beastie's slow makes a huge difference, and many well geared beasties can tank well too. Plus a beast is a great dps. Helps even more with the druid's damage shield on the beastie.

What do people think about a warrior and druid combo. Is this feasible or no? I've been power leveling one up since I came back into game since the warrior was already level 25. (I'm a 52 druid) Will this be a plausible group later?

I have two accounts and my main is a druid. I am always helping people with their levels and my friend has access to my account with my druid and uses her as a pocket druid when I am away from the game.

Personally I like a melee side kick with me. I play the healer and buffer. Then they can do all the damage.

But in the end there is no really good combition of what is good with a druid as a side kick. Just knowing where your strengths and weakness are to accomplish what it is that you want to take down or camp.

But when alone, there is always little fuzzy. Which I have named Squishy :)

riverwinter had it right! flamelick for supreme aggro... an id suggest a necro aswell. an not to put anyone off. but i did up a druid to 65, an got bored at his lame ***. not the best dotter,healer... an rolled a shaman an loved em a heck of alot more. also if yer making a druid choices are halfling for tailoring bags.... or pick a tunare worshipper for a root necklace.

but id say for a duo your going to be hurting for mobbs to run through i think after round 50 with just about anyone. but a necro would make a sick kiting partner. an atleast he can slow undead. an when u see a named...just think about how u shoulda made a shaman. =)
