Classes: The Druid

Druids - a powerful outdoor class. With the triple ability to heal, inflict direct damage and cast damage over time, druids are a popular solo class, as well as popular in a group. They are also a travelling class, given both sow and teleportation abilities.

How should you play your druid to make the best use of his abilities? What are the best solo strategies? How should the druid be played within a group? What spells are the most and least useful? What skills should you develop?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Druid and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

My advice is to wait on putting exp. into AA's. Once you're in you're 60's is a better time to start. You will find it easier to group then. As far as what AA's to concentrate on, I've gone with trying to max wisdom. Get innate enlightenment (pop advance). The higher you raise your wisdom, the more mana.

I got run 3 and innate wisdom. Then saved points for archtypes, I now have 2 levels of mana regen. The AA's you want to get will be based on what style you play, healing or dps.

At 57 I change my AA exp level based on what I am doing at the time. Right now I am broke and hunting Ice Giants for the plat mostly, but I still get some exp for them. The amount of regular exp I get is so small the blue bar barely moves at all, but if I go all AA exp I can get over 2% AA exp for a DB kill. When I get into a group I put all the exp into leveling. This way I get the most bang for my exp gains depending on what I am doing.

At 51 I put 40% exp into AA and would not do that again. All AA or all Regular exp is the way I am doing it now.

Good advice. This definatley depends on your play style & how bad you want to level vs obtain alot of AA's. I've played a healer mostly during groups and raids so I put my 1st AA's into innate wisdom. I also put in some regen and stamina until I could spend points in archtype (requires 12 general AA's,I believe, before you can purchase archtypes). Plus Archtypes can't be bought until 55 anyways, so I just banked them for a couple levels. At 55 my first AA purchase was Mnemonic Retention. That extra spell gem helps alot. I then put AA's into healing adept, Healing Gift, SCM, & SCR. SCR makes all of our good line of buffs last longer, hence using less mana (SOE, SOW, Regen, DS, etc). My next set of AA's in archtype are going to be Mental Clarity (more mana regen).
If your a Nuker type drood, then instead of healing AA's go after SCM, SCF, & Mental Clarity (Lower mana cost, Crit w/dd Spells, & better mana regen).
Since you said your mostly a solo druid, I would say after those, go after Natural Durability, Channeling Focus, Combat Stability and Combat Agility. If you solo alot these will help when your getting beat on so you can mitigate damage and still be able to cast a spell and get some distance between you. You can't move onto class AA's until 59 anyways so build these up. Hope this helps you, but it's just my 2cp.
