I believe there are no "best" races....just play what you like.
Stat wise a dorf is a good choise.

When I am tanking and what I hear from other MAs is that they prefer dark elves. The reasons for this, I believe, are three fold:

1) DE clerics are KOS in most places throughout Norrath. This forces them to be savvy with their invulnerability, gate, and lull spells to get around. This makes them good for pulling (yes, pulling!), staying put to take a few hits while the tanks get aggro or the casters mez/root, and they tend to be commited to group soidarity and dynamics because they have run afoul of many KOS guards while out on their own. Hardship is a good teacher.

2) The DE cleric symbol quests result in an insta-clicky snare DOT (clinging darkness) item. Because druids and necromancers (those with slow spells) are often out soloing, a group is thankful for this interesting extra. It makes crowd control, pulling (there it is again!), and running to the zone line on a bad pull much easier.

3) Pulling! Well, sorta. Dark Elves have a high agility. Combined with the cleric's ability to wear plate armors, the DE cleric tends to have a higher Armor Class than other races. The dwarf is also a good choice in this case because of their high stamina and thus, higher number of hit points. In a typical group, your vital elements are a tank, a healer, and some crowd control. If your healer is able to take hits, one of your vital elements is less likely to disappear.

i think you should realize that there aint such thing as "a best" race.
Pick what you like.
Alle disadvanteges wont matter in time...nothin that equip cant fix apart form being kos.
And kos aint that big a deal.

Dorf has nice starting stats.
Good sta/str combined with a moderate wis.
Others whill go for the highest wis.

Just do as i said....pick a race that you like.
Nothin that time cant fix.

I think you should look at all the Races you can be a cleric in, then decide what race you want to be, as for what race is better we all have our prefferances. I am a lvl 60 high elf cleric and like this race. Look at the stats for each races and decide what stat is more important to you. I would suggest the wisdom stat is most important to the cleric due to it determining how much mana they get, the more mana the more healing power.

I want to make a cleric and i like the Dwarf because of the high sta and str (for wearing plate.) But the Cha on dwarves is very low, how much does this affect the lull line of spells? While looking through the equipment i dont see very much that helps with cha.

There is no best race for any particular class. My personal choice was a dwarf and I have no regrets about it. Dwarves have some of the best cultural plate armor available in game and is wearable by clerics. This gives me plenty of AC so I can stand still and take a couple of hits while the rest of the group works to get it off of me. Even now at level 58 I there are quite a few pallys that I know that have less AC then I do. And Tanks are very impressed with my high AC realizing that I won't be running around like a chicken with it head cut off. But AC isn't the man stat for a cleric, I have my wisdom maxed out.

When it comes right down to it, pick the race that best suits you.

best class for Cleric? Must be Frogs i mean come on, they HOP!

Me I picked a High Elf cleric and he's doin great! Although I twinked him a lot (he has more hp than warriors of his lvl), he can solo pretty well.

And race doesnt matter for cleric. Whatever race u pick, ull never have trouble getting xp. I dont know a group who wouldnt like to have a cleric in their ranks. So, I picked the High Elf cuz he looks cool in a full suit of armor. =)

dwarf is the way to go awsome strength so you don't have to raise it plus they have second best stamina in game and they also have nice wisdom but if you want strait up wisdom and low stamina high elf but still dwarfs have sweet statistics

I started a High Elf Cleric when I first started EQ. As long as you have a good guild and time, there's no reason you can't max all of your stats with equipment. If you don't think that you'll have the time for raiding and what not to get that good equipment, go with high elf since your mana is your primary concern.

The only classes that I think matter for choosing are Ogres, Trolls and Iksar. Anti-stun and innate regeneration. Would be nice to see other classes get something nice too, but for now there you go.

High Elf has the most base wisdom, and altogether best stats for a cleric.

I made a Froggy cleric to box with my chanter. I liked the high Agi and Dex. I pumped all my starting stats into Wis and the leftover into STA. Plus, with the nice little charm item you get in the tutorial now, all the important stats were near or over 100 when I left the tutorial, untwinked. Dwarfs can't claim that!

Play what you like. It's all the same in the end.

Well I have a dark elf cleric who I love she is now up to 34. I have played, up to this pint, only good aligned races and have found my cleric to be my favorite out of all of them. So you can make any race that is allowed to be a cleric and make something good out of them. Remember to play and have fun that's all that matters.
