Classes: The Paladin

Paladins - Icons of Virtue. The paladin combines the strength and battle prowess of a fighter with the healing and buffing of a cleric.

What is the best strategy for developing your paladin? Can a paladin be soloed, and if so, how? How should you play your paladin within a group? What skills should you concentrate on developing? What spells are most useful, and least useful? What armor and weapons should your paladin be seeking out?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Paladin and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

I just returned back after a 4 year break. I quit after the AAs came out never earned any. I have half way decent gear and just starting earning plat again but is comming slow.I found a zone to solo in but the the exp has been kinda slow. I do have 4 points in AAs now and trying to get some more. I am limited on when I can played the reason I would need a zone to solo so I will not effect other people if I have to go AFK or log off in a hurry. Is there any zones I could solo in that gets decent exp and plat?

Hey friend

Well my warrior is lvl 58 and with virtue and some heal pots and DS pots i can kinda solo in Nadox but you as a paladin you will be able to solo and you get quite alot of Plat from a kill you get about 2-9 plat a kill which isn't to bad.And maybe if you get a group you would be able to go to Bastion of Thunder (bot) very good exp at your level.

Hope that helps you :)

I've raised my paladin from level 56 to 64 and racked up over a hundred AA points in Nadox over the last three months (Saryrn server). The best advice I can give toward how to advance your pally the quickest in that zone is to hunt down and kill undead. Lots of undead. It doesn't take long to farm AAs in that zone (maybe an hour for each point if you're solo). If you have (or plan to acquire) a weapon that does proc damage, get all 5 ranks of Weapon Affinity. It will take some time as each rank costs 5 AA points to buy, but it's definitely worth it. Work on Combat Agility and Combat Stability as this will decrease the amount of damage you'll take and raise the amount of damage you will dish out. When you're in your low- to mid-60s, work on the Slay Undead ability. The first rank costs 3 AAs, 6 for the second, and 9 for the third, but, like the Weapon Affinity ability, this will prove well worth it. My level 64 paladin can dole out up to 4200 points or so of damage to undead creatures (the higher level you are, the more damage this ability will do).

Since pallys are primarily a melee class, work on your other combat skills first, then go for the skills that raise your healing capabilities. I know it can get kind of frustrating to farm AAs while you see lower level toons surpassing your own character's level, but trust me, farming AAs will make your character more able to survive the perils of higher level zones.

I hope this helps. If you're ever on Saryrn, send me a tell. My pally's name is Mayce Winnduu and I'm a guild officer in Death Squad. If you want an invitation to my guild, let me know. I'll help you get reacquainted with the game.

I hit veksar around level 60 and stayed there for 5 levels and around 500 AAs. At the start it will be slow going, but the drops are great for tribute, and once you stat building up slay undead the AAs will fly by. I was there before defiant gear and mercs too, so with those upgrades it shouldn't be that hard. A bit of advice that nobody told me, if you were not aware, is that the undead are just past the goblins! you can pacify them and go up a ramp on the left side of the entrance room when facing out. I know that info is pretty trivial to most, but I spent an entire level in veksar wondering why everyone sent me there before I found the undead mobs.

....holy crap I just realized this post was over a year old....oh well maybe it will help someone else
