Classes: The Paladin

Paladins - Icons of Virtue. The paladin combines the strength and battle prowess of a fighter with the healing and buffing of a cleric.

What is the best strategy for developing your paladin? Can a paladin be soloed, and if so, how? How should you play your paladin within a group? What skills should you concentrate on developing? What spells are most useful, and least useful? What armor and weapons should your paladin be seeking out?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Paladin and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

So, after a hiatus of nearly three years, I logged back onto my pally on Zek, on one of those Return to Norrath: 7 days free dealies. Apparently I had the good fortune of logging in right after a major patch completely revamping the display of the AA trees for all classes. I was somewhat alarmed to discover that the Holy Steed AA that I had purchased for however many AA points way back in the day had vanished, to be replaced with an AA that read like this:

Valiant Steed 0/1 cost: 9 Category: Shadows of Luclin
Requirements: Level 70, Holy Steed at Level 1

I asked another old hand pally, and he hadn't noticed this development till I pointed it out, because his holy steed hotkey was still working, and to the best of his knowledge, this was something that became fouled up after the recent AA revamp patch.

I think the game still knows that I have holy steed, and it is merely a failure in the AA UI. Anyone know if there's a workaround so that I can ride my old horse?

when i logged on my old hotkey didnt work but after i went to the class tab i made a new AA for Holy Steed and it worked.

you can alphabatize the AAs by clicking on where it says "title" .. Holy steed should be in the class tab. if you don't see it i would say try zoning and if you still can't see it maybe petition :(

Spoke to a GM and the described that the AA Holy Steed was accidently removed. This will be added back at the end of this month or latest eary august. It is a known issue but if you still have the hotbutton for Holy Steed you can still summon the horsey.

completely removed? I'm using it right now. I wouldn't put belief in 1 word that "GM" said , if you really did talk to one.

my old hotkey would not work anymore, because the AA skill is now a different /alt act #.

you can look up the /alt act # of any AA by using " /alt list " while in game.

Ability #77: is Holy Steed.. so maybe try using the command /alt act 77 if you can't make a hotkey for the skill. ,

if it works you can just make a new hotkey with that in it. the /alt act 77 works for me, but i have the armored holy steed (dunno if that is whats causing some people to not see the AA in their UI window.. I can see it fine. maybe it's a problem with custom UIs?)

here is a list of the other alt act commands for paladins (they are different for diff class sometimes) http://dukelatan.angelfire.com/ALT_LIST_PALADINS.html
