Classes: The Paladin

Paladins - Icons of Virtue. The paladin combines the strength and battle prowess of a fighter with the healing and buffing of a cleric.

What is the best strategy for developing your paladin? Can a paladin be soloed, and if so, how? How should you play your paladin within a group? What skills should you concentrate on developing? What spells are most useful, and least useful? What armor and weapons should your paladin be seeking out?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Paladin and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

ok all, this is a just something my guild leaders as well as all my friends have been pondering for quite a while. So i thought i would throw it out there and see if anyone else has had the same experience.

my erudite pally (lvl 61 atm)has off the hook aggro, i'm talking wizards chain casting their nastiest stuff, enchanters chain tash'in, none of the caster issues come up when i tank, the mobs just REALLY love me. (i'm told i'm "boring" to play with cause the casters never get hit...period)

Then there is the issues like, grouping with other paladins 65+ that are honestly tanking and i'll steal aggro from them without ever laying a finger on the stuns/taunts/bashes. And these are good paladins, as i play with them alot. My best friend is a 68 paladin (high elf) and will let me tank rather than have to "fight" me for aggro...casters don't concern her but I do.

And last night was the worst instance of me stealing aggro. Working on final kill in vampyre trouble quest in TM, and i've got this nice little group of friends together. MT is a 70 warrior that is EP equip'd with hate mods out his ***** Without trying...i stole aggro from him. I'M 61!! weilding the freaking bane torch that is laughable by all standards and i stole aggro from him. We were all in ventrilo at the time and the groups over all shock factor at me doing this was "interesting" to say the least. I called the warrior on the phone and talked about it, and she said she was honestly trying to keep aggro from me and couldn't. WTF IS GOING ON?!?!

The only different between my paladin toon and everyone elses' paladin toon, is her race, and thats the only thing i can think of. Although i really enjoy all the comments i get about how ubah i am at holding aggro, this issue is actually starting to bug me. (gets me in trouble at raids too)

I honestly think that erudite pally's get some sort of bonus to aggro, and without me saying what i thought, my guild leaders have starting commenting on it as well. Saying exactly the same thing. That erudites MUST get an aggro bonus

Any feedback would be welcomed

heres a link to my toon, just incase you want to know how i'm equip'd

No, Eurudite paladins don't have any sort of aggro bonus over other races (other than being cooler looking). If you're stealing aggro from someone who is supposed to be tanking you're not doing your job. Bragging because you can steal aggro from a warrior isn't impressing anyone. Paladins can steal aggro from anyone. The trick is knowing when to do it, and knowing how to avoid doing it when you aren't supposed to.

If you are stealing aggro when you aren't trying, and you aren't stunning or using a weapon that procs stun, then back off. Fight at max distance and if you steal aggro turn attack off. I find it hard to believe that you are stealing aggro from paladins that are tanking and using their stuns unless you are trying.

If you are yanking aggro from lvl 70 warriors and the like with a 61 paladin, you are doing something wrong. My only thought could be is that someone is using root, as that really messes up aggro. I also noticed that you have spent AAs on combay fury. This may be part of the problem due to the increase in DPS.
I suggest you hold off engaging the mob until the tank has had a chance to gain some aggro, as well as keep your self at max range if possible.
