Classes: The Paladin

Paladins - Icons of Virtue. The paladin combines the strength and battle prowess of a fighter with the healing and buffing of a cleric.

What is the best strategy for developing your paladin? Can a paladin be soloed, and if so, how? How should you play your paladin within a group? What skills should you concentrate on developing? What spells are most useful, and least useful? What armor and weapons should your paladin be seeking out?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Paladin and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

1h sword or 2h sword which is better in the long run?

Should I keep both leveled, or is one clearly better in the long run? One handed obviously lets me equip a shield for more stats and bash.

Two handed seems to have a better damage ratio, but still I am leaning towards one handed. I just don't want to get to 50+ and find out I should have chosen differently.

So what are the strengths and weaknesses of both? Thanks for the help!

Keep ALL your weapons skills maxxed.

At different levels, you will obtain different weapons that are the "best" you can get,

The best and safest thing to do is be proficient in every weapon skill.

2H weapons do more damage as a rule. But seeing that there's 3 different skills for 2H, don't limit yourself.

Should you advance to Time or GoD or Oow level, there are 1H weapons that match lower level 2H weapons that you can get and e able to carry a shield.

Be good at everything.

Yes, I most definitly agree here.
Having all the weaponskills maxed will allow a bit of varity should you come across a good weapon.

I have to disagree with others..

I got my 1st piercing weapon at lvl 55 or so, the Two Tined Corpse Pitchfork which is 26/22 ratio. I did a bunch of LDoNs and raised my weapon skill from 0 to 200 in couple of hours. I managed to get up to 8 skill-ups per mob. = Train your skills when you actually get a new weapon, there's no reason to pay too much attention to them otherwise.

neither is better in the long run... i would say it depends on your position.... i use a resplendant war maul when i'm DPSing on a raid or in a normal LDoN or somewhere i don't need max tanking stats... then i use a blade of disruption(new item from WoS not yet on alla or magelo) and an archaic shield of stone when i'm tanking or need max HP.... between the 2 setups the difference is about 200HP/AC so it does make a difference... but weaponskill wise... yeah... train it when you get it... at lvl 65 with haste and a dex buff takes you 2 secs to raise to cap. BTW stats on Blade of Disruption are about 43/30 12 to stats 105 HP and 15 to saves and a planar stun proc :) god i love my new sword :D

You know, all of Allakhazam's info comes from player submissions, so if you get something that isn't on here yet, it would be a good idea to send the info in that way everyone that uses this site can benefit. No dobut you have looked up an item on here before - it wouldn't be there if someone else hasn't sent it in.

It is a good idea to have both 1hs and 2hs maxed out. The new attunable sword the others are talking about rocks but wait til you see the epic 1.5 it is insane. Like the other post says though, some situations call for 1h and others 2h you can raise your skills as you get new weapons but you gimp your group while you do it unless you can find a nice Pet clas that will let you duel their pet to skill up.

We are paladins.. I can guarantee no one notices a slight drop in your DPS if you want to do some skillups... (Although it is polite to ask permission to train skills when grouping).

uhhhhh.... I'd say that if your just gonna get a certain skill cuz u see a good weapon.... good luck with that. There are different versions of each weapon. theres always 1 from each type thats fast:strong:procs well:major stats.... so if you see stuff like the blade of disruption........ theres a 2hs version of almost the same thing. the Edge of Envelopment! It has more hp. More stats and more dmg. and better dmg bonus. only problem is that if u want major hps and ac for tanking... which isnt a pallys primary job, this wont let u get too high. Heh i use 2hs only since soon im gonna get my 1.5 and 2.0 and gonna be wailing mobs for doubles of 500! You can chose any skill you want and its most likely gonna pay off in some way so you cant really make a mistake! AKA: I lost my train of thought half way through writing and forgot what i wrote....whatever hope this helps
