For starters, wood elves cant be pallys, so you get the choice between Human, Dwarf, High elf, Froglok, half elf, Erudite (i think thats all of them, someone add if theres another race). and primary Stats are Sta, Dex, and then secondary primary stats are Str and agi, you also need to work on AC aswell, being a paladin alot of people work on AC alone up to 50. at 46 now, im trying to get STA and DEX stuff now as i lack it because i worked primarily on AC, as for what gear to get, that varies to start off with so i really do suggest doing the newbie armour quests, these sets can last along time to my knowledge, and even if you do start getting better armour these can fill missing slots when needed, a Nethetbian Chitin is an excelent piece and very cheap, as for picking an acctual race, i wouldnt pick a race iwth the best stats but one you will enjoy playing, what ever you pick will balence itself out in the end but if really want stats, dwarf or Froglok are best for stats, and bonus points should be put in mainly STA and at least 5 in DEX and maybe some in Str (Str recommended if you pick High elf). and a last little point, for weapons, personaly i say 2hs and/or 2hp all the way but some people like 1hs with a shiled for bash but again thats for you to decide. anyway hope my rambblings have been some help.
