Classes: The Shadowknight

Shadowknights - The evil warriors. A combination of fighter and necromancer, the shadowknight is a complex class to develop and play correctly.

What is the best strategy to develop and play your shadowknight? Can the shadowknight solo, and if so how? How should you play a shadowknight in a group? What skills and spells are the most and least useful for the shadowknight? What items should you be seeking for your shadowknight?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Shadowknight and read, rate and comment on what others have to say

So my SK is now 67 (71AA) and I'm thinkin about makin a serious leveling push to 75 or so. Wearing all crafted cultural gear atm, (most of it still the 55-60 stuff, scattered pieces of the 60-65), and am getting the feeling i'm undergeared (~7k hp 2kac self buffed).
Here comes question #1: Should I keep spending my hard earned plat on cultural gear as I level, or am I going to replace all that anyway with quest / dropped gear?
Question #2: Are there any quests that will kick my gear up a notch that I can do reasonably with the help of a fairly decent guild (we can get up to 4 decent grps together to raid when we have to)
and finally Question #3- Should i even worry about my gear until im level 80, or should i just level level level, and leave myself underpowered but still on that exp treadmill?

Dreadlord Kaysig Xirhoman of Tunare

Thanks for any responses in advance.

well considering what I'm getting from your post, A few options.

Asylum of Anguish = 68+ zone since they ripped the flag from the zone. It shoudln't be to hard to find an open raid for this zone. and w/ a few groups depending upon the levels/gear/classes. You should be able to farm the aug mobs there w/ relative ease. A solid warrior, or a well geared knight ( preferablly 75-80. depending on healing ect.) to tank. You can also loot an Orb for your 2.0 epic in this zone. Fully SoF teir 4 geared, raid mobs such as Keldovan and Ture are 1-2 groupable ( read below)

Bloodmoon keep = 75+ SoF teir 2 gear. "Warped" gear offers very nice stats and focus' for hybrid classes. The XP is great at that level, but it may be hard to get a camp. depending what server your on. IMO if your not able to raid decently high content ( to get bazu/lastblood/ ect augs) the SoF groupable gear will far outweight Cultural at that point. the warped gear is also tradable so you may have the option to buy it, but the prices at times overshadow cultural. And may be upgraded to nicer gear, via steam-cores although a pain in the tuckus to farm a solid group, good puller are needed for these zones. It lacks the AC most raid gear has, personally i find it better then anguish gear and slightly worse then Demi gear. But it is groupable/2 groupable at worst. my teir 4 SoF groupable gear took start to finish approx 4 monthes farming 15+ hours a week. But we where able to fully gear our entire group. and Have only needed to upgrade weapons ect via raiding up to TSS content. So this gear will last you a looong time. MMM/Crystallos are a pain in the butt to flag for to get the last componet to upgrade the tier 3 gear set to teir 4. You have a long way yet to go to get to that point. But in the long-term it's a very viable option for gearing up if your guild doesn't raid much.

RSS = easy kills 69 to zone in if your lacking AC hit up the camps. These augs become somewhat obsolete and you may end up changeing them out in the future. But they are much easier to farm then some of the other AC augs available to you.

Dragon scale Hills = Polished Calarite(sp?) is another nice aug and often times i've seen it ooced as rotting.

TBS = Jonas dagmire skelatal hand aug quest, IT's not as bad a BiC... but it's tediouse.. the aug is very very nice though.

TSS = there are a few random AC augs mainly from FC/AG

DoDH = a highly under-rated expansion imo 70+ the missions are a breeze particularly w/ 65 attunable gear from SoF. Free gear/augs ect. Illsarian enforcers medal is a cursor loot.. doesn't get any better then that imo.

As for pushing the level or AA's. If you are generally MT in your groups. stop and smell the roses abit... get your defensive aa's done if nothing else. You will see a significat improvement over-all of your mitigation. w/out defensive AA's done at level 80 you'll be a burden to any group you MT in.

Anguish/BMK gear are both nice, But take weeks of work to fill up your visible slots. On the up-side you shouldn't have much of a problem getting help in these endevors as either type of gear is all/all potentially. The nameds that drop the gear in BMK may drop any armour type, and the anguish peices are similar.

my best advise is to do the homework. look at the difficulty, get your guildies imput. and go from there.

btw I'm a unicorn rideing pink paladin as my main level 80. But i dearly love my 55 SK as well.

Katta may also be an option for you the energaic gear is.. okay. BUt imo by the time you get the faction required to buy the decent gear You'll be moving onto SoF content anyways and in that time you can get some nice gear/augs out of anguish w/ that time.

personally I plan on doing the Polished energaic gear on my SK until 65-70, Then head to Anguish for some gear, and in the same time Do a few DoDH missions, then 75+ hittin SoF content. Granted I will not be MTing, until I have some decent AC/HP. and I have a few level 80 friends to help me along.

hope my long winded answer helped.

If you ae going to get last Blood augs for the cuyltural, it is worth keeping.
Otherwise, ya, other gear will come in better.
