I am soon getting eq (its in the mail) and am thinking of starting a shadowknight as my first toon. What are your reasons for starting a Shadowknight?

Depending on race they can be a challenge to play and level.

They have a unique abilities package. Part Necro/Part Warrior. Which brings about it's own strengths and weaknesses.

I have played a SK for almost 7 years and I cant really describe why I love her so much. We dont do any single thing better than anyone else in the game. Think about that a sec, a SK is not superior to any other class at any single thing.
The beauty of the SK is she can do almost everything in game except port and mez mobs (potions and other toys let us port though). We tank as well as a warrior except Raid bosses, we can heal ourselves and our group with spells. We can feign death which is the best single ability to have in my opinion. If a group needs a puller and a tank..we are able to serve both needs at once. Soloing is a breeze with so many diff zones now but still never have a prob gettin groups.
I guess I love all of the versatility of the char, without having to play a fag bard, lol.

They are the best Hybrid IMHO. They can tank decently, get ok spells and a (though pretty bad) pet.

I play a 45 SK and am enjoying it alot we have all the good stuff not great but good DD's Dots, pet and FD also fear can make it an easy sol time but it can be a hard class to get to learn :) but i enjoy the it when it's a bit harder :) and remember that with the diff races you can have a exp pen that can slow leveling. but they have other perks :) Gl and be safe your going to have a blast :)

M main is an sk and the class is hard to play right but you can do so many things. The first thing i recommend is to properly get a feel for the class. Is to at least work your sk to the lvl you can fd. work with die with and use every tool at your disposal. Make sure you take some time and solo this will teach you what you can really do. You after many deaths will be glad you did so. You group will have no questions as to your roll in the group. you will shine and be in charge of guiding your group through the process of what ever your group is set out to do. you can kite, pull, tank, off tank, steal aggro almost at will, slow mobs, dot mobs, and can kite adds while mt if that is not your roll does his job. Be an agro hog unless in that is not your roll atm. Hit em bash em taunt and yes you heard me correctly beg them, life tap them snare, stat drain them, now tell that warrior who likes to brag about agro who can keep it in a contest. Another thing you have over them other root sprouting forest critters is that unlike there snare your does not wear of if you want beat on it and your mob while fleeing for its soon to finished up life will stop and not turn on you and hit you hahahahhah who is afraid of who now. enjoy this class and roll play it to best of your ability.
