Classes: The Bard

Bards - the jack of all trades. Each level is a new song and a new way to play. Handy with a weapon and able to wear decent armor, bards can hold their own in a fight. Plus, the ability to twist two to three songs without using mana gives the bard a magical ability like no other class.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of the bard? Can they solo, and if so how? How should they best contribute to the group? What is the best strategy to develop your bard? What skills and songs are the most important for you to master? What equipment should you be trying to get for your bard.

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the bard and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

OK it may just be me but lev 52-56 went fast in PoN, now exp is slow, I have tried PoV but mobs take to long to DOT down, being that i can't charm them, i'm great at charm kiting and i don't DOT them down like most post are saying after you invis them off, what i do is just get them under 20% and then drop the pet(Invis) and charm next one. then run backwards and target your >20% mob and hit pet attack on it. sence it is under 20% it stays on that target till dead, others attack his back and knock him down faster. just my way. is there an area where i can go to get more mobs, them wolfs die to fast and i spend lot of down time. i'm useing some drum just slightly better then karanna drums. One round of wolfs is bout 10% exp or so or 60% AA exp. I feel that is not enough for me to stay there and have to med that long waiting on repops.

hmmm i remember kiting the pirates in timorous deep until around level 54, at which point they bottomed out. i think i did werewolves in PoNightmare but turned to doing AA xp from them, which was quite good. i learned about PoJ kiting much later and regret not going there earlier. here's what you do:

load up your best four chants, charm, invis, heal, and selo's. enter plane of justice and run down to the Deathrow - its the long hall with Enforcers along either side of the wall, doors leading to rooms with named mobs in them, and a sentry guy at the end with Mavuin behind him. now sing Selo's and run down the hallway, collecting mobs as you go. avoid going too close to the Sentry guy for now, as he can't be charmed and makes things difficult. now just charm kite. learn to use the space you have - when you break invis, pull the pack down one side of the room, wait for them tocatch up to you, cross the room and run back up. they die very quickly. for even better experience, work the Sentry guy into your kite - note he doesn't summon, but does hit hard - and when you get down to one or two mobs in your pack, sic the pet on the sentry to wear him down and then kite him when your pets die. this is great for cash and ethereal parchments, too.

sound boring ? well there's plenty of other places, just use your imagination. if you're skillful enough you can kite Temple of Droga. plane of innovation is decent, but there's seemingly random summoning mobs.
