Classes: The Bard

Bards - the jack of all trades. Each level is a new song and a new way to play. Handy with a weapon and able to wear decent armor, bards can hold their own in a fight. Plus, the ability to twist two to three songs without using mana gives the bard a magical ability like no other class.

What are the strengths and weaknesses of the bard? Can they solo, and if so how? How should they best contribute to the group? What is the best strategy to develop your bard? What skills and songs are the most important for you to master? What equipment should you be trying to get for your bard.

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the bard and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Im having trouble swarm kiting, i have a lvl 27 bard, I gather up the mobs and i charm one and have it attack another aggroed mob, and a few mobs stay at aggro on my pet, but most of the mobs follow me, i was wondering what i am doing wrong, and if there is a way to make sure that all of the mobs aggro on my pet every time,?
thanks

Some things you could be doing wrong.. at least the things that I did wrong :p

1. Causing too much agro: If you are constantly playing runfastsong you are constantly causing agro. Get a druid runfastspell or potion to avoid this. You later get the runfastsong that lasts a few minutes which helps with this problem hugely.

2. You are not letting your pet cause enough agro: Run the mobs over your pet when he's fighting one of the mobs to solve this one.

3. You are not picking very social creatures. Go through the boards and make sure that the mobs that you are trying to swarm are mobs that other Bards have successfully swarmed before or at least test how social they are yourself.

That's all I can think of atm, gluck!

Swarm kiting doesnt seem to work in the TSS zones either. You have to be in older zones to properly swarm kite. PoN is one of the best zones i have found.

There is a place in TSS I have found to swarm. Icefall Glacier. Use faction song on the wolves, make youself of dubious faction to the wolves and the bears. Go into the primary wolf field (Ruins area?) and use your new level 74(?) spell and find a wolf.

Sad part about this is: Yes, it costs 200 mana to use 1 charm, but will also cost you another 800 mana to fade when its done to clear aggro. Not a huge issue with out of combat regeneration though.

Plenty of wolves around there to charm. Be weary of using this on some of the dark blue wolves though. You may find one that is 1 or 2 levels too high to charm and it will cost you a fade if it doesn't stick. Swarming here is best used on the Mammoths and the Wolves. Don't bother with the bears. They are all too high of level. Don't bother with the goblins or kobolds either. Some are casters and you really don't have the kite space / mobs to pull it off.. Also faction issues involved.

When the named mob "Hunter" is up: I'd suggest against swarming the wolves around. He has an incredibly large aggro radius and will aggro on you from a very long distance :)

((edit))
Oh and What Culwin / Lohe said was entirely correct. Those are the primary issues the main poster was probably encountering.

Other poster: PoN is a great spot for swarming in the 60's when you have Call of the Banshee. After level 57 mobs... It gets pretty dry until the new charm for level 74 assuming you can just walk-up on to land the charm :(

Mezz + charm means endless swarm kiting opportunities using the level 70 and 74 charm songs.
