Classes: The Monk

Monks - masters of hand to hand damage. The monk is a powerful fighting class. With their unique set of skills and need to keep their weight load down, monks are a very complex class to develop and play correctly.

What is the best way to develop your monk? Which skills should the monk concentrate on learning? What is the best fighting style for a monk? Can a monk be soloed, and if so how? How should a monk be played within a group? How can a monk best use his skills? What weapons and armor should you try to get for your monk?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Monk and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

I have returned to playing my monk after an absence and need to reacquaint my self with the mechanics. I have speed focus but can't find a hot key for it. Do focuses have hot keys? I there a link with recommended Monk AAs that is up to date? I am level 77. Thanks

If you're referring to the discipline at https://everquest.allakhazam.com/db/spell.html?spell=4691 then, use the discipline window (Alt+C if not up already), right-click a blank button or any button, and select it from the menu. It only lasts 30 sec and has 22 min reuse timer.

Search the http://monkeybusiness.com/ forums for AA guides. If All Access, check out the in-game Auto-Grant feature as an option too. It grants all AAs for upto your level or 85 whichever is lower, and upto and including Underfoot expansion, other than tradeskill AAs and the Spell Casting Subtley line, but does grant the activatable silent casting AAs.
