Classes: The Monk

Monks - masters of hand to hand damage. The monk is a powerful fighting class. With their unique set of skills and need to keep their weight load down, monks are a very complex class to develop and play correctly.

What is the best way to develop your monk? Which skills should the monk concentrate on learning? What is the best fighting style for a monk? Can a monk be soloed, and if so how? How should a monk be played within a group? How can a monk best use his skills? What weapons and armor should you try to get for your monk?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Monk and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

I'm returning to EQ with two friend of mine and someone suggest we try out the team Shaman, Shadow Knight, and Monk. I remember once trying a monk loooooooong ago, and I found it to be boring (not a whole lot to work with). Although I didn't play it very far, I was hoping if someone had some input on whether it's as interactive as a magician sounds like it would be.

you would level faster with a monk. Monks can pull without training often, and resume play after retrieving corpses. (though not as fast as rogue.) and its the cheapest class, (on average in all expansions) to be the cheapest class to make, and they do get high end weapons that are equivilent in a dps match to take care of a warrior.

and they are able to wear the strongest bracer. A plate armor called hero bracer. I dont know about anymore, but back in the day it was a signifigant stat. But that was back when 3 or 10 ac could make someone survive a fight.
