Classes: The Rogue

Rogues - Masters of Stealth. With a variety of completely unique skills, and a fighting style all their own, rogues can be one of the more difficult classes to learn to develop and play correctly.

How should you play your rogue to best take advantage of his strengths and weaknesses? What skills are the most useful, and what is the best way to use those skills? Can a rogue be soloed, and if so how? How should you play your rogue in a group? What equipment should you be searching for?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Rogue and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

First you need to put sense and disarm traps as the 5th and 6th buttons in your ability tab in the actions window. Then make a hotkey in your main hotkey page and name it "traps" and make the first line "/doability 5" and the second line "/doability 6" then put this in your 9th button slot in the hotkey window. Then press Alt + O and click the keyboard tab, and then click the pull down tab and select "macros". Then locate the row that says "hot button 9" or something of that nature, and then click where is says 9 and then press the right directional key, and press the columon next to that and press the left directional key. After doing so you have bound the right and left directional keys to sensing and disarming traps, so whenever you turn left or right you will traint he skill. You have to be careful though because if you are in battle and move to backstab and you hit right/left and there is a trap nearby you will turn to face the trap which may or may not be the direction of the mob. This is especially annoying on adventures, but if you can deal with it you can easily and painlessly get up both skills.

Does that work on disarm traps, or don't you have to actually be at a trap? As far as sense traps I just put mine on my evade key. And for disarm when I was LFG I'd just sit in Sol A and click the little swinging axe thing.

/agree Tactikal.

I just had sense traps on a special practice macro that included intimidate and sense direction (so this was a long time ago, obviously). And I just tapped that, and a sneak'n'hide macro, whenever I had to wait for anything. Sneak, Hide, and ID maxxed out around 42, so I stopped using the macros at that point. With the addition of constantly using sense traps in LDoN's, just for caution's sake, sense is nearly maxxed too.

And for disarm, just go to Sol A, walk in and follow the path just a few feet til you find a swinging axe accross the path. Find an angle where you can hit 'U' and get the message 'You have successfully disarmed the trap', preferably facing away from the middle of the hallway in case other players run by. Then just tap 'U' furiously, or get a program that'll do that for you. There's no delay on disarming the trap, so the skill goes up very fast. When I started doing LDoN, I went back and spent somewhere between 30-60 min in Sol A, and got disarm from 75 to 200.

I did it using Daviv's method. Its much faster. I suggest using Hide while disarming the Sol A pendulum trap. Even the green cons will aggro you. Not a major thing but who wants to deal with continual interruptions?

For some reason or other when I was doing it, I couldn't get the U button to activate it. Dunno, maybe bad angles, but then again that was over like 2 years ago or so.

Sense trap I would just hotkey it to your backstab button. It will go up if their is a trap or not. For disarm trap I would just click on the traps in Sol B. They can skill you up fast, but do have a limit I believe. After you get max in Sol B on the rooftrap head to Sol C (IF you have SoS, if not then its the hard way.)There is a sickle that swings in the back. You can click on it for 200 real fast. I think I maxed mine in about 10 seconds (only had a few points left to go)

Great thing about these traps is the fact you can click them as fast as you want and they will always disarm.

This is providing they did not change all of this stuff.

I don't know about Sol B, but the axe in Sol A definitely does not have a limit. I got up from 75 to 200 on it.

Not sure if how old this goes back, but you dont need to go to Solusek's eye to work on your disarm or sense trap. Link them to a movement-macro if you're lazy but they can skill up weather there is a trap around or not.

I've yet to have a disarm trap skill up in the 5 years I have played a Rogue with no traps to disarm around.

The since trap will go up yes, but from what I have seen the disarm will not.

/agree. My sense and disarm are macroed to right-turn, and I have them both in the 140's having never even been in the same zone as a trap (or at least very rarely).

This was a nice technique . . . went from 21 to 200 in Disarm Traps very quickly. Much better than Sol.
