Well I think since you have a 75 Necro you would allways be disapointed with the Sk's spells which follow the necro line only much lower, also the SK although in the 50's might solo better than a Bst now, I think without slow he soon will not be able to solo at all, unless you fear kite but that can bring adds on ya like mad which i'm sure you know. I suppose you can pick up a slow weapon then with the sk's snare you should do allright(with healing potions and healing augments in healing weapons). I guess it depends if you like to tank or not. Again after playing a Necro you might like to get in there and tank away. I guess it all depends on personal likes of how to play. I think I would pick a bst they are fun but start to slope off in the higher levels with out great gear.

Allow me to throw my 2cents worth of advice ^.^ My main is a 75 bst, and although I can't solo the super high zones, I can hold my own in the Steppes and Sunderrock... Beastlords were given a fantastic spell called, Promised Mending, a lvl 73 spell which allows you to CH your pet. So, in terms of soloing, if the mob is to nasty for you to tank, allow your pet to step in and you play healer, dot, nuke, etc. When it comes to DPS, Bsts are just about up there with wiz's. Of course, when it comes to soloing, Necros are one of the best....so either one the SK or BST will be a different class all together.

IMO, the SK is mainly ment for oober tanking. They are great for pulling and tanking, however, I am not too sure about their solo abilities. I was able to solo with my SK in her 50's.. but any higher than that, unless you have oober gear, it would be rather difficult.
