Race doesnt really matter anymore, except the faction point of view. i'm gonna have to vote gnome though, c'mon its hilarious watching a gnome do that kind of dps

In Everquest, all races are the same. It is only personal preference. The game was (re)designed that way over the years in the name "balance". Whatever that means.

hmmmm, how about a Wood Elf. No one would ever suspect a wood elf. "Oh, its just a wood elf, stupid tree hugger, ignore him." If there were robes big enough, maybe an Ogre.

Erudite: why? Starting stats are high on STA, which gives base hp, which is the necro's most important stat, and high int. You will never run out of mana, but you may well run out of hp if you are too frail. For levelling up, Erud is the easiest, simply necause they HAVE more hp, and when you are constantly using HP to mana regen, as all good necros should, hp count, especially at low level.

Yes yes I know they are blind, but you get Deadeye at lvl 4, so who cares. I made a DE and put everything into INT, and regretted it later, it took forever to max STA. If I could do it all over again, for easiness I would make an Erud, but for the challenge I would make a human, as they are the rarest of all.

HP are > all for a necro, and starting STA is the most important factor I would look at, having played my DE for years, and now that the stats don't matter since everything I have is maxxed. But on patch days I have tried every other race on Test, and Erud is by far the optimal choice.

With the ease of getting good 'starting out' gear whether twinked or quested, race really doesn't matter any more. There isn't any reason to return to home cities because PoK and Crescent Reach make attaining sundries so easy. The true benefit to the Dark Elf race is the evil sounding voice if enjoy the voice commands. The Erudite voice sounds horribly wimpy - even though they're from Paineel.

Humans look coolest, they've got an average height so using Page Up & Down to toggle view isn't constant, they look the best hands down without robes (haven't done it yet but plan to spend some points on my looks modifier), they've got beards (and not just hokey graying goatees like dark elves), a long-haired, goatee'd human Necro bears striking resemblance to vampires, and HUMANS are the BEST
