Greetings all I play a Cleric on the zek server as my main but had some questions about the enchanter in this enviroment.My first one can a chanter still charm someone elses pet and use it against them? 2 is really worth using a chanter as a pker seeing as most pkers have high MR FR CR DR PR for this reason i see an enchanter falling fast in battle with another class.I love the enchanter and have an alt 29 lvl on Tov and never faced anyone but what I do know is that they can solo pretty good once u learn how to charm and do the double up xp.oh and my last question how much mana does a chanter suck out of ya per cast? and what lvl sdoes it start thanxs

Last time I tried this still worked. I found it easier to mezz the pet but I bet that option still works.

Now days our nukes/mana flare/DoTs are Chromatic. They use the lowest resist the target has and are applied against that. Your chances of a spell landing improve becasue of this, however our DPS is still low. /shrug You are not at any more disadvantage than any other caster.

If by "suck out of ya" you mean mana drain, that does not work PvP. Sorry.
k, so i just erased a entire response ot this. and im going to try an write a better one, seeing as this is the ench's page....
i played on zek for years. i had started there by luck of th edraw when choosing my 1st server. an after i found out that other servers where "bluebie, carebear" i questioned why anyone would play on them being so unrealistic. i mean yeah its fantasy an all. but u should be able to whack your groupie when he does something silly....
so heres my knowledge on pvp as an ench... in my entire Eq life. i mighta died 1-3x at low levels only <20 by an ench....an i stress mighta. there dps sucks. an that was before u had the option to finance your heals with POK bought potions... the fight would go like this... id be out leveling solo... id get tashed... then mezzed... then who ever it was would try to blind me with a bioluminescent orb. (its a clickie blind). then after like 2-4 resists it would hold. id get nuked. an then remezzed, blinded. rinse repeat... it was the utterly most boring fights i'd ever seen. so please, pretty please dont try it. cause in retaliation id just spam away on my casting button an dot em as a druid, or on my shm. an i swear all i needed was to get 1 or 2 to stick to make em run off... so yeah, its pretty boring.
pvp low level is all about dps, an HPS. so rogues are a favorite with $ to twink'm. rangers( my favorite) necros are good dps, but a lil soft... everyone loves to harmtouch with a SK. an if they say otherwise they're lying....
i dont know if u plan to stick at a certain level range for kicks. or if u plan on leveling. but i wouldnt choose an ench for pvp fun... id even go with a wiz, or mage, for some nuking therapy.
if you intend on leveling an like the crowd control aspect of an ench. id suggest a bard. they're fun to play with that wonderfull selo's an you'll never be in a fight you dont want to b. an they're good at high levels too.... an yeah, i dunno what else to write ya to try n help.

Now, I haven't played for years, but I used to play an Enchanter for mid 30's pvp on Vallon Zek (how long has that been gone?) Anyways, the thing I loved most about my Enchanter in pvp was the Minor Illusion spell from level one. If done right it was just amazing for pvp.
It didn't used to break on casting (I don't know if it does now), but I used to go and hide in a place with crap around it (barrels, flowers, whatever) in a high traffic area, just turn into something, mez the guy, debuff, and just tear him down, while he looks around trying to find where it was coming from.
Needless to say, I always had a blast pvping with my chanter.

lol, reminds me, of myself pvpin as a druid in the middle of a forest dressed up like a friggin tree. gosh, those were some gay times... but its kinda funny how many peeps are attracted by a spinning tree. lol.
Enchanters blow in PvP. All your spells are MR based and on Zek everyone has MR out the wazoo from level 1 to prevent being rooted, snared, etc. So that pretty much negates the chanter even after you tash. Secondly, chanters have no way to heal and they have low HP. Third, chanters are about the lowest DPS out there, and since everyone you'll PvP against will be buffed and have HoT pots, you're the suck. Usually the best you can hope for as a chanter is to escape. Occasionally you'll get lucky but not often enough.
One more thing. When you fight a dotting class--necro, druid etc, their dots will IGNORE your precious runes and start eating your health right away. Not fun.

I stand by the fact I hate PvP.
I stand by the fact that Chanters are NOT high a DPS class
However -
At higher levels those are simply not true.
They ARE true at low level and If you cant get up in level to get to the point they are not true it may not matter.
At high levels we do have a VERY mana intensive way to self heal via Summoned crystals, (and runes are a form of self healing)and our nukes, DoTs, and Mana Flare are all Chromatic which goes against the lowest resist someone has.
However everyone tends to get thier Resists pretty high. Doublely so on PvP servers.
