The first pet focus items a magician can get are the result of quests from a gnome magician named Vira in the Temple of Solusek Ro (located off Lavastorm Mountains). Each focus works only for it's corresponding elemental.

Minion of Air - Broom of Trilon

Minion of Earth - Shovel of Ponz

Minion of Fire - Torch of Alna

Minion of Water - Stein of Ulissa

These work up to level 49 and are the only focus items under 49.
