Magicians - Dealers of damage. With the combination of a strong pet and the second best set of direct damage spells, magicians can deal out some serious damage.

What is the best way to develop and play a magician? What strategies work best for soloing your magician? How should a magician play in a group? What spells are the most and least effective? Which pets are the most effective, and when should you use one type over another? What skills should the magician try to develop?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Magician and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

I just started an Erudite mage and was wondering if I should change some of my starting stats around to things like agi and dex. I remember reading somewhere that it is insanely easy to max out int, so it is recommended to put some starting stats in something else to help you mitigate damage.

Any feedback on this would be greatly appreciated.

Thank

I wouldn't worry too much about where you put the stats. After a few deaths you should get the idea of how to keep from getting hit. I think if you are fortunate enough to find a cleric that will cast temp on you, you should be fine in learning it without dying. At lower levels, even higher levels, you won't have much hp so avoidance won't make a huge difference anyway. I don't think it would hurt to put the starting stats in AGI or DEX though. As long as your pet is alive let it tank. You get some crappy heals to throw at the pet or you can nuke it down if the enemy is close enough to running.

AGI, and DEX are 70 for an erudite, which means you get a penalty on raising offense, and defense skills unless they're 75. So, go all int for 144 I think. Or, put 5 in each of DEX, and AGI.

Ask ten people get ten answers, hehe.

Int is easy to max

dex helps with channeling checks

agi helps with dodge which is great for melees and monks. That would not be my first pick

Stamina will give you a few more hps which will help in your young life, but won't matter after a while.

Spend them on anything other than wisdom and charisma and you will be fine. It is no longer the monumental decision it used to be. Have fun and enjoy your mage.
