Classes: The Magician

Magicians - Dealers of damage. With the combination of a strong pet and the second best set of direct damage spells, magicians can deal out some serious damage.

What is the best way to develop and play a magician? What strategies work best for soloing your magician? How should a magician play in a group? What spells are the most and least effective? Which pets are the most effective, and when should you use one type over another? What skills should the magician try to develop?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Magician and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

My advice is to forget about soloing. At this point you are within spitting distance of being able to solo some really impressive stuff for more plat than you can shake a stick at. The fastest and safest way I know to go about that is grouping. PoV till 62 then BoT till 65. From there go raw aa. Once you get 65 you can camp spots that drop 3-15k per hour. Group now. Solo when ya ding 65. Can do 58 to 65 in a couple weeks easy.

If you are a hard core soloer like I am ~smile~, the boats in Dulak were great at that level, especially Dandolak. The common mobs drop gems (sapphires, diamonds, blue diamonds, peridots) regularly, and the Captain on that boat drops a nice pair of rogue/shaman/ranger pants (rust encrusted) and rogue/shaman/ranger tunic (rust encrusted) that go for 5k and 12k respectively. He also drops a warrior axe, but it is his common drop, so does not sell for much. From common to rarest of his drops is axe, then pants, then tunic. I have personally gotten 10+ axes from him, 3 pants, and 1 tunic.

Actually 3-15k an hour is nothing to shake a stick at at 65. You can approach that by farming the Sebilite Guardian camp in Seb. That or the necro jail.

My personal record in terms of loot is umm... rather a lot. In an hour. Pre-Elemental.

There are several high end loot spots mages can solo without too much trouble. Would rather not totally declassify them on this board however, as such spots, once mentioned, rapidly become attractive for all sorts of other classes trying to steal our thunder.

Things are crowded enough as is.

That said, check around on the fourms at .

All my little personal spots are listed there. It will require digging, but they're there. Most of them allow you to farm items that sell for a fair bit, depending on your server. Just don't sell them in the bazaar. Price depreciates rapidly if farmed items start showing up there.
