Classes: The Warrior

Warriors - the tank class. Combining a powerful offense with a strong defense, warriors are best suited to slugging it out toe to toe with the monsters they face.

What is the best way to develop and play your warrior? What skills are the most useful for a warrior to develop and master? Can a warrior be soloed, and if so how? How should the warrior be played within a group? What weapons and armor whould the warrior seek out?

Post your strategies on how to best play and develop the Warrior and read, rate and comment on what others have to say.

Dual Wield Tanking.....possible?
#1 Jul 12 2011 at 10:46 AM Rating: Decent
Came back to EQ after about 5 years. Been playing around with the tank classes mostly (though I have not rolled a paladin yet) and was curious if warriors could dual wield tank effectively in a group setting. I assume that sword and board is the way to go on raid bosses (though I probably will not raid at all).

Also, if I may ask, in the event that I must solo w/ a merc, how do the 3 tank classes fair at leveling and general AA grinding?

Thanks in advance for any helpful info!

The usual method for grouping is dual wield, however with changes to aa there is a large gain in the dps using a sword and board, I personaly haven't parsed the results, but I am informed by a few of raiding friends that the sword and shield is at least equal if not better dps than two weapons and reduced damage incurred. That said in a grouping layout it will for all intensive reasons probably not matter.

As for weapons and armor in the end game it is pretty easy to tell look for the greatest ratio you can 20/20 isn't as good as 21/20 etc. As for Armor and Heroics it will take a bit of a play style for you to pick up but I am an armor over hp type of guy so I like the heaviest AC I can get which means I am also agility over stamina. I know many people out there may not agree with me so I will include some people prefer hp to ac or in moderation so that would mean balancing hsta vs hagi if possible and getting a more balanced ac / hp model. The same holds true for my aug choices I prefer 35 ac plus augs with hp if possible however in some circumstances I have been known to use a +endurance no hp aug for short term while camping other augs.
