January 27, 2000:  If you are beta testing Internet Explorer version 5.5, I have found out that there is apparantly a bug in that program that reads the meta refresh tag in the banner as a command to refresh the entire site.  From what I can tell, it is only in that version of IE.  Any earlier version of IE and any version of Netscape should be OK.  Unfortunately, there's nothing I can do about it.  Please send in a bug report to microsoft about it (many sites use the refresh tag, so they should want to fix it before they release the final version) and you will have to view the site in either an earlier version or in Netscape.  Sorry.

January 25, 2000:  You have to love snow days.  I have a huge update for you today.  Lots of nice information, including some new quests and items.  Of note is a very nice Guide to the Plane of Sky sent in by Cassie.  Also, I added another editorial on crowded zones sent in by Kraken Darkwind.  I don't normally use this space to editorialize, but I really think something has to be done soon about the load on the servers.  In many ways, the game is becomming unplayable, at least in prime time.  The new server goes up and there's 2000 people on it.  Wow.  Clearly, we need about 5 more of those.  It seems obvious to me that the player base has gone up 40 to 50% since Christmas.  It's great that more people are discovering this excellent game, but the game needs to expand to deal with the influx of people.  I know Verant is trying to deal with it, and I'm sure the expansion will help, but the delay is definitely frustrating to many people.  So I'll say here what many players are saying elsewhere.  Please put up more servers.  I know it's not the be all end all solution, but it's a start.  We want to spend our time fighting Mobs, not fighting off other players.

January 24, 2000:  I should just call this the Honorary Plane of Sky Update.  Almost everything is from the new zone.  I updated the zone description with a lot more detail.  I also updated the quest list.  I think it has every quest on it now.  I also added a whole bunch of new items.  From what I've seen so far, on top of the various random items, it seems like each class has its own special bracelet and its own haste belt.  Pretty nice.  Keep on sending in the items when you find them.  Also, let me know how those quests turn out when you finally manage to crack them.  I'm sure everyone's dying to know what the new quest items are like.

January 21, 2000:  Just another reminder to change your bookmark to everquest.allakhazam.com.  For those who have been yearning for the old Webbbs board, I have put it up, as well as the new board.  I figure I would let people post on whichever board they favor.  It is linked in the index as Messages, and the Ubbs board is linked as Forums.  Things are beginning to trickle in about the New Plane of Sky (which brings to mind the question of where the GM's will hang out now that this is a public plane).  It seems more like a high level Temple of Solusek Ro, with sets of quests for each class than another version of the other Planes.  Very interesting.  I have gotten the basic quest descriptions for many of the quests, and put them in the Plane of Sky quest section, though I am still missing a few classes.  I have yet to hear from anyone who has completed one and can tell me more than the basic information you get from talking to the people who give out the quest.  If you manage to complete one of these quests, please let me know the details and send in the item specifications.  I also went through the guild links and alphabetized them.  This should make it easier to find the guild you are looking for (and boy are there a lot of guilds).

January 20, 2000:  If you bookmarked this page under the numbered URL, reload it as http://everquest.allakhazam.com and bookmark it that way.  There is no guarantee that number will always work, but the domain name should always be accurate.  I got a lot of feedback on the underpopulated zones article, with several suggestions for additions.  Therefore, I updated the article with the new suggestions.  I also updated the section on the Plane of Air to acknowledge that it is now open, but I don't know anything about it yet (other than I can't go there - hehe).  For those who are going to the Plane of Air, please send in images of any new items you find there and some information on the creatures that are found there.  Also, the patch stated that the Armor of Ro Quests have changed, so I noted in the quest description that the information may not be completely accurate anymore.  Hopefully, someone will send in the new details.

January 17, 2000:  I am real happy to announce the addition of a new affiliate.  It's been pointed out to me that the site is often oriented more towards the good races in Norrath then the evil ones.  While I try to cover every angle here, I have to admit that I play about 5 different characters and not one is an evil race.  (I'll have to start one up now that I think about it).  Therefore, I have joined up with the excellent site Neriak.com to help keep up the perspective of those evil races.  Go on over and check it out.  They hope to become the place to go if you play a Dark Elf, Ogre or Troll, or if you role play any character with an evil bent.  For those looking for the link to the Kackling Klaknak, he is still affiliated with gamestats and is now listed in the general links section under the highly recommended sites.

I'm going to be moving the server to an even faster connection on Wednesday.  This means it will be down for an hour or two early Wednesday morning (around 8:00 a.m. est).  Just a heads up if you are trying to get on at that time.

January 14, 2000:  The search feature works now and I put up a new poll.  Also, the board must be working as people are starting to post a lot.  Remember, you don't have to register to post, but registering will preserve your name.  Also, allakhazam@allakhazam.com is now working fine.  It seems that much of the mail sent to that address has been in some virtual holding cell and is coming thorugh OK now, so there should be no need to resend anything.  Do not send e-mail to allakhazam@gamestats.com if you want it to get to me.  There has been an occasional slow down of the server as it gets fine tuned.  Remember is is pretty new.  Give it a little time.

January 13, 2000:  New Update:  OK I think it's working now.  I have three ISP's (don't ask) and they all now can access the domain and the forums.  If you haven't tired it in a while, try out the forum link .

Doh!  Apparantly the forum is not working for most people.  It seems that after internic updates it's master registry the other web servers need to access and integrate the update ... or something like that.  I just write the stuff.  Anyways, it will only work now for those people logged onto the net through magpage.  Nor will the new domain work.   LOL.  Sorry about that.  We're all learning all types of interesting things about how the net works.  I am told that it should definitely be back up by tomorrow sometime, and perhaps as early as tonight.

January 12, 2000:  NEW UPDATE --  The new forum is up.  Yippee.  The domain is official now... everquest.allakhazam.com.  Tell all your friends.  Heck, tell your enemies too.  I also have allakhazam.com up, but really only have a link back here at this time.  I switched to the ultimatebb style forum, since I think it is a little easier to read and post and to keep interesting topics going.  I currently have it set up so that you don't have to register to post on it, but you are welcome to register and reserve your names (if there is a problem with some long time posters not getting their names, let me know and I'll straighten it out).  I set it up in a hurry tonight so there are probably some features I didn't include that I may want to include later on.  I also only added one forum (plus the Book forum).  If there is a demand for other forums, I will set up some more, but I generally prefer a lot of people posting in one place than a few people posting in a lot of places.  I'll get the search feature working tomorrow.

I have finally gotten almost everything straightened out with the site transfer.  I am still waiting for the domain name transfer to go through (/tap), at which time I will put up the message board.  Since I've been forced to redo the board anyways, I am seriously considering putting up an ultimatebb board instead of the old webbbs one.  (For those who are wondering, that's the same type Verant Uses for all their EQ boards).   For those of you who haven't found out yet,The Cackling Klaknak is back up and running at his old address at gamestats.  Although that technically means he is no longer my affiliate, I'm going to leave all the old buttons, etc. up for a while so that everyone who thought he disappeared can find him again.  I'll probably then move his link to the highly recommended section of my links, because I think his site is a great one.

January 10, 2000:  Two big things.  First, The Mythiran Tower is back up and running, continuing to offer you the best Everquest research information site on the web, along with a new look.  Of course, he also does not have a domain name right now, but you can get there at http://216.155.25.103.   Second, although the usual message board will not be up for another day or two, those who are going through message withdrawal can go to my old Delphi forum and post on the board there.  You will have to go through the free registration with Delphi.  The message board link in the index temporarily links to that board, so post away.  I am told that the new domain name of everquest.allakhazam.com should be active within 24 to 48 hours.  This numbered URL will also continue to work.  As soon as the transfer is done, I will get the old message board back up.    I want to thank everyone who has sent in messages of support and congratulations.  I have some exciting plans for the site which I hope everyone likes.  I can see from my counter that most people are finding me. Be sure to spread the word about the new address.

January 9, 2000:  Remember the new site URL should be everquest.allakhazam.com in a few days.  This numbered one will also continue to work.  It's day two of my several days premature move.  I like gamestats characterization that I was "removed" from their network.  It is sort of like going to your boss and telling him you quit and having him say you can't quit, you're fired.  Semantics.  For those who have asked, yes the Klaknak and Mythiran Tower also got booted, even though they did not tell gamestats that they were quitting.  I have offered them a place on my server and they should hopefully be back up in a few days.  I was anxious to see what the sever could do when it started to hit a bigger load and am glad to see that so far it seems much faster than the gamestats one.

 I can see from my counter that people are finding me.  I want to thank Maximum EQ for doing the right thing and posting a forward, as well as the The Casters Realm, EQ'Lizer, EQ Stratics, EQ Vault, Everlore, EQ Atlas and the many other terrific sites that quickly put up my new address so that people could find me.  I hope I didn't miss anyone, but yesterday was a long day.  I am still uploading equipment graphics, and the cgi programs seem to want an actual domain name to work, so the polls, search feature and message boards may be down a few days.  If you run across a file that still has an ad banner on it, please e-mail me about it so I can remove the code.  If you found the site, be sure to tell your friends and everyone you group with what the new URL is so that people can find their way back here.  I know people are still looking since I went on the game last night and got about a hundred tells asking what happened to the site.

January 8, 2000:  Welcome to the new site location.  New location, new server, same site (well hopefully an improved one).  I'm glad you found your way here.  You can bookmark this Basic URL or wait until everquest.allakhazam.com becomes active, which I hope will be in a day or two.  I didn't mean to move this soon, but I was somewhat unceremoniously ushered out by Gamestats, so here we are.  C'est la vie...  The forums depend on having the domain in place, so they will not be up for a couple of days.  I am also still uploading some files, specifically the equipment graphics, which take a while to upload.  Please bear with me.  In the end I believe this move will benefit all of us.  If things work out, I will be able to devote far more time to the site and add more features and improvements.

This server is my own server with high speed access to the net.  I no longer share it with 300 plus other games.  Hopefully, this should solve the serious slow down problems that the site has been having over the past few months.  I know there have been times where the load on here was excruciatingly slow.  Hopefully, this will fix that.  It also will give me a little more flexibility on what I can do with the site.  Within a week or two, expect to see a brand new beastiary go up.  Illia has been chomping at the bit to get the beastiary live, so I imagine it won't take long.  I also plan on adding an auction section which will allow the auctioning of items for game platinum.  Hopefully, this will solve the demand I have received in numerous e-mails for a section that tells people the buy/sell prices of game items for the various servers.  Note that my new e-mail address is Allakhazam@allakhazam.com.  However, it will not work until the new domain goes up.  In the meantime, you can e-mail me at jandtmoyer@yahoo.com . January 4, 2000:  I went through the zone section and updated all of the links, since there were a couple that had changed.  Hopefully they all work now.  I also added a few new map links.  The good part of this is that Maps at Quester of Norrath, the great Japanese map site, has translated a number of his maps into English.  Even in Japanese, these maps were very useful, but in English, many are indispensable.  I put an updated symbol by the ones that are now in English.  Also worth mentioning, Baelish's fine site - Caster's Realm - now covers clerics, bards, druids and shamen, so you can check there for additional information on those classes.

January 3, 2000:  Well the new millenium has arrived (I know - technically 1/1/01 is the start of the millenium) and we are all still alive and playing EQ.  Yippee.  The new message board seems to be working without any glitches.  Yippee again.  In case you were wondering, I removed the frames option from the board.  It was just too awkward.  I also figured I would mention that with the coming of the new year, some lucky person was in fact the four millionth visitor to this site.  A pretty mind boggling number.  And except perhaps for some of the wood elves in the fashion section, there aren't even any dirty pictures to be seen here.  I want to thank everyone who uses the site and expecially those who have contributed information, images, corrections, etc.  Keep on coming here and sending in information and I'll keep on updating the site and building it up to be even better.

January 1, 2000 (or is that 19100):  Those of you who have checked the message board today probably noticed that we skipped forward a few millenia and are now in the fine year of 19100.  Well, I went out and got the updated version of Webbbs and just finished installing it.  Alas, the version I was using was so old that I can't transfer the old messages, so we're starting out fresh.  The new board has some nice features.  I hope you like it.
