i know that this is an old thread, but i have yet to read a post of how bane dmg actually works. mobs that can only be hit by weapons with a certain bane dmg on them (ie the emp), will take the full dmg of the weapon that has such bane on it. so the emp, being hit by this weapon, will take the full 16dmg. not just the 15 bane. this holds true for all forms of specific creature bane weapons. lord seru is the same way. hope i cleared up some confusion

The original poster (and most of this thread) is incorrect. The post that you all have rated so poorly is in fact correct.
If you want another discussion on bane weapons, please refer to the Safehouse.... This link is a lenghty discussion on how it works. Note that although some people do believe it is just the bane that is hitting in the begining by the end of the thread everyone agrees it is the whole damage of the weapon.
So for those people with thier filters on, this weapon is a 16/19 against the emperor, not a 15/19.
I am sure you can find some spelling or grammar errors in my post, but that doesn't make it false.
They also posted the corrected damage, which is very important to note. Bane damage affects all damage on a weapon, regardless of certain immunities. Lord Seru is the most notable test subject that proves this.
So you bust your tail killing the Emp, so you can finish your VT key, so you can get a sword that will help you kill the Emp.. Makes perfect sense to me.
Would seem that getting a great bane wpn against Emp. after you have had to kill him to get into VT is a bit redundant, however, most guilds have to kill Emp MANY MANY MANY times to get everyone keyed for VT that doesnt's even include any new recruits since your last Emp kill. GREAT weapon to have in the bank.
Good point. Still though, from what I know only the bane portion of weapons works on the emperor, and a good deal of the quested ones aren't as high as 16 damage vs shissar (the one handers)
And who is there to forbid farming emperor for more loot while alternating him with VT mobs. Just my 1cp
correct since emp is immune to all melee dmg except bane he only takes the 15 where as all other shissar take the full 16 the weapon is poo unles you are fighting some sort of shissar and seing as how i'm posting after GoD and pretty close to OOW expansion the weapon sucks against everything but emp.
Never really understood how bane dmg works..so will this be a 15dmg 19delay weapon against shissar? I know my summoned hammer Hammer of Judgement is 14dmg 19delay with 10dmg bane undead..i hit normals for average of 40dmg or so but undead my highest melee dmg in 100dmg.well good hunting and safe journey to all.
To answer you bane damage question on the cleric summoned hammer, the hammer is 14/19 against non undead, and 24/19 against undead. If there was some undead boss mob that could only be hit by undead bane damage, your summoned hammer would be 10/19 against it (because the regular damage wouldnt affect it.)
This particular shissar weapon would be 16/19 against shissar mobs, and 15/19 against the emperor (since he's immune to the 1 regular damage.)
As I undersand it, the bane damage is an actual bonus, so it's better than just changing it to 16/19, but then you add in all of your other bits like dmg bonus, strength, etc as normal.
Silly question: why can't druids use it? Please don't get me wrong: i don't think they should get it (i can clearly see it getting better use by other classes) but it just struck me as odd that a scimitar cannot be used by a druid.
Guine Vere 35th woodelf druidess on Vazaelle
OMG, maybe druids are in reality descendants of Shissar and therefor cannot wield it without killing themselves :)
Anyone ever wonder why a Shissar (for ex) would caryr a weapon that would inflict extra dmg upon itself? I mean, a simple clumy moment, dropping it on their toes, and now their leg is falling off.
Well, Diabo Xi Xin Thall (a Greater Akheva) drops the Dark Mace of Thought with 8 bane damage versus Greater Akheva. I wonder how he can wield it without burning his fingers or something like that :P
Keep your friends close and your enemies closer... I think that sort of philosophy works here. If I were vulnerabel to something I would get as much of it as possible and hide it away.
Well, say you were shissar, would you want these babies running around where anyone could grab them and use against you? Or would you want to use them yourself so they would have to kill you to get them. If they made Elf bane swords i would carry them.
