To the chanter who thinks he is never OOM, what can I say? Do you EVER cast? After the buffs I mean. If you don't have FT at high end you are useless.

Do you think chanters just buff then sit on their hands? PLEASE. Slow, charm, mezz, AE stun, nuke, etc. Chanters are essential to some end encounters (think Rathe Council) but any chanter who had a CHANCE of FT and passed up FT3 boots to a ranger is a fool. Not that rangers don't need FT, but if you are not in a guild where everyone has FT15, then your guild could best prioritize FT items on the basis of overall usefulness to the whole group/raid.

Tell me now: can an OOM chanter still do damage? Not a lot really, dps is pretty minimal in the chanter melee stakes. Can an OOM ranger still do damage? Yup. Think bow and melee. Most rangers I know ALWAYS have mana because, except in very rare circumstances when they are needed to cast in encounters, they really aren't using mana that much for DPS.

As a necro I have often been the recipient of ranger heals because the cleric was busy CHing the tank. Thats probably about the best use I can think of for their mana. They often report that they almost NEVER cast and may as well use their mana for something.

In short, ANYclass at high end can use FT. I think SOME classes without the natural mana regen of a shammy or a necro might be prioritised. Certainly clerics come to mind, but EVERY caster needs FT. Some just need it more than others.

why does everyone always tend to forget about the shamans...extra mana is always very helpful in many cases...several times ive been lom due to resists or to help heal in bad situation or if in the middle of a group i need to rebuff people...believe me shamans could put this to just as much use as any class could

Don't feel bad Krazzykiller. Magicians are mentioned for items like these even less than shamen.

All the classes listed would get a great benefit from this item. That's why we're all listed.

I understand why magicians are less essential than a slower, healer, buffer & crowd control. We're non melee DPS, and that's a pretty easy role to fill these days. That doesn't mean we don't need (and haven't earned the right) to be well geared at higher levels.

Those who tend to believe only clerics and enchanters should be awarded good caster drops please broaden your view to include the rest of us who help make your groups & raids a success.

I have a cleric with only FT1 at level 56, god i would love to get into VT to even TRY to get this item, of course when i ran out of mana to heal it would suxor.. but hey, a try is a try.. and depending on the "RPP" of others, and the greed that several people in game have, it touches me to see so many people jump up and say HEY GIVE THIS TO THE CLERICS!!!! /cheer !!!!!!

#REDACTED, Posted: Jul 09 2002 at 10:56 PM, Rating: Sub-Default, (Expand Post) The enchanter will not get this item for the Flowing thought. Heres why. Kei / self mana regen spells. Now the wizord who doesn't have ft15 will get it if its just coming down the FT effect. The FT effect for enchanters is in all essence a waist. The only time FT for enchanters will come into play is grouping or Raid buffing. Now the FT this provides will help minamly ofer a night of xp. And a period of 20 min that you are buffing for you raid will not help. Mod rods will. I play a 60 chanter I got to option for the Ft3 boots from CT. I passed them to a Ranger. Why becuse I don't run oom unless I'm dead or on a raid. KEI keeps me well full of mana. As to the stats on the item yes I would where this over my current gear. Why? HP. Hp's are what keep me alive in all the situations get me. FT (and yes I do have FT items) have saved me 1 or two times. HP on the other hand have goten me though more fights then I can count. So the FT to the chanters is fun for us but is not necisary. Clerics ~ wizords ~ Next person please stand up here and shout the loudest for your class.

-Apprently you will never hit a guild that will ever see VT nor elemental zones with a dumb nut mind like yours.

-Uhm thats because you have a crap mana pool, Casting KEI and going OOM = poopy mana pool, heck KEI = crap anymore, as to passing on FT3 booties to a ranger LMAO.

MAN R U SMOKING CRACK .. if you don't go OOM then u must have something the rest of us chanters don't know about ------

I don't care if I can self crack .. FT15 is one of my goals .. I do Charm Kiting with a snarer in HOH and am frequently LOM at end .. .. Tash, Charm .. <med while mobs duke it out> at 11% I break charm <invis> then ROOT/NUKE em to nothing and get the exp (if u dump pet before mobs dead . then you don't take the PET PENALTY and u get max EXP ..

In other words .. I would NEVER pass on these boots .. If I have the points .. I TAKE THE LOOT :)

Well grats clerics! Cause we all know that's who's getting these items. Plain and simple. You want your cleric at 15 mana regen per tick without spells. You want ALL your clerics like that. If a few items with FT spill over, guess who gets em? Chanters.

Not a flame, serious question cuz I really don't know... what is a chanter mezzing at this level?? Are 60+ mobs mezzable? I can see that chanters need to haste, buff, and drain mana off mobs.... I would almost think wizards would come before chanters on this item because their damage is more needed than mezzing. Again, I don't know, haven't played either class at this level, only a cleric.
What high-level chanters mez
# Apr 09 2003 at 8:08 AM Rating: Decent
Stoutoak asked, "what is a chanter mezzing at this level??"

The mobs in Vex Thal often spawn in groups that are hard or slow to split. A pull to the raid may bring 6 mobs. Some of them typically can be mezzed, while some cannot. The main tank chooses an unmezzable mob and most everyone assists the main tank to kill it. Other tanks attack the other unmezzable mobs ("add tanking" or "tank mezzing"). The chanters must mez the remaining mobs until all the other mobs are killed.

Also, in the Ssraeshza Temple Emperor encounter, the trigger mob (Blood) is surrounded by tough guards. It is useless to kill these mobs because they are insta-respawn. Chanters must mez some of these mobs throughout the duration of the encounter, which may take 25 minutes (and the other guards must be tank mezzed). It does help that bards sing mana song throughout the fight, that nerfed mod rods are available, and necros are standing by to twitch people who need mana.

The critical mana drain on the Emperor and many other big fights is cleric mana.

This Belt of Dark Thoughts dropped last night. A paladin went for it. I (cleric) did, too. We both had about the same rpp (raid participation points), so it looked like a rolloff. Then the paladin graciously withdrew, pointing out that cleric FT4 > paladin FT4.

It's quite possible that the Paladin withdrew due to the fact that this item is not now nor has it ever been Paladin usable.

I have one of these belts; it's very good for all 7 classes that can use it and would be quite good for any hybrids if any were able to use it. Most clerics in the guild have their FT capped at this point or I would have passed it to them however.
RE: Hmmm...
# Dec 28 2002 at 9:54 PM Rating: Default
clerics followed by wizards for FT! If youre really short on clerics, druids get in... But people will get their due stuffs - necs will get FT, just not as much as a cleric...

As a member of a "UBER" guild lol. It dont matter who wants it it matters who has the points to get it! I have FT15 Sure I have KEI and all the mana regin spells so what? I mean I went after it for the Stats not the FT.
